TD he’s having an elite season.

He’s the exact mid type we need it we are thinking a top up is achievable for another couple of years. Geelong and Sydney have done it after shocking years. The morons in the media are that transfixed on our age demographic and thinking we’re not actually tipping these blokes out gradually that they assume we’ll just turn into a 25 year septic tank like Carlton and Essemdon have. **** that shit. Identify targets and keep developing the younger players which looks a lot brighter than it did a few months ago and who knows. We’ve ridden the equalisation cycle pretty consistently this century with deep finals runs every few years. I see no reason we won’t do it again.

Yes but we don’t have to give up anything for us and he immediately fixes a midfield issue.
Hes a one touch, two way mid that really needs no explanation of how he'd improve us. Nick might be able to ask him how to talk to the umps right so they finally give him a Brownlow too

This is posted without having watched a minute of today, but is a slither of concern worming into anyone’s thinking re Allan’s contract? We have an absolute dearth of talent U22 and whilst I’m not yet convinced he’s the future losing him as we’re starting to see green shoots is a scary thought.

Sorry all, long post coming and I’m not even sure if this is the right place to post it.

I don’t see how you could watch us narrowly lose to the top 6 sides and suggest we have years of hurt in front of us.

We’re clearly in a transition year and as it stands, we’ve found a few kids who have earned a spot in our best 23 and are still improving in Allan, Steele, Steene, Anderson and Hayes. Need to see more from Harrison and West but the potential is there. What this season is doing is identifying areas of need that should be addressed this offseason. It feels very similar to 2022 in that sense.

It sounds like we’ll bring in Neale, which is a huge win. Immediately fixes a clearance issue, supports Nick / Jordy and will allow Allan, Anderson and Swadling to develop. Looks like a decent midfield to me?

We need a key forward and I’d be chips in on Walter. I don’t care if he kicks 60 goals, we just need a confident, young tall. McStay is copping a lot though he’s on track to kick 40+ goals in a season where he’s had minimal key forward support. He was never meant to be a focal point up forward yet here he is.

We’re staying close in games without having a true CHB for most of the year. We’re a system based defence so I’m less concerned about this. Ballard would be a massive win though I’m bullish on Howes. If we go in to next season with Frampton, Moore, Maynard, Perryman, Quaynor, Houston, Parker and maybe Ballard or Howes, I wouldn’t be complaining.

And finally, for the love of god, figure out the role of Josh v Houston. One is an AA half back, the other is an AA wing. Maybe that’s a good start?

Plug the holes, keep playing the kids without gifting them games and move some magnets around. We’ll be back.

Did Jon Ralph just say we’d be prepared to offer Jed Walter 1.1mil????

Suns have upped theirs to 5 years 5 million in the last 48 hours.

Mate are you taking the piss or do you genuinely think that?
Dual brownlow medalist but yeah nah he's just another average player
At worst he’s still a top 10 midfielder in the comp, and perhaps the best clearance player going around

But you get players like Neale to elevate those around him and to remove the load from Nick and Jordy.

Similar to Mitchell, we’ll get Neale to win the clearances or get the ball out to Nick, Jordy or Allan.

If we get Neale…and Daics cleans up his disposal…and Jordy keeps up this form…and Allan continues to improve then that’s a bloody good midfield. Lots of ifs, but worth going for.

I would be offering him a 4 year deal tomorrow.
Can’t afford to lose him

A sliver, perhaps?

And no, not as long as we continue to give him opportunities, we obviously have the need for his type and the money to pay him.
