Yep, pretty obvious if we want Butters we need to trade this year's first, next year's first, and then probably something else to get a first...
Id say the chances of us doing that with so many other holes and age profile problems are pretty much zero.

As much as I'd love to see Butters, Jaicos and Naicos playing together, it's not gonna happen. We just saw our forward line, Port at least have Georgiadis

5 years at $1.5M should do it, not to mention the personal deals on top of he's playing salary he'll get come he's way, playing for the Pies.

It all depends on Port’s ability to match any offer Butters receives as a RFA because as a RFA they have the ability to match and force a trade.

I would suggest they’ve got the ability to offer the largest contract to him for 2027 and beyond so I’d put the odds of signing him as a RFA as slightly greater than our ability to land him (which is close to zero itself).

They really only have 1 likely draftable prospect this year. Who would be more like a late 1st or 2nd rounder at this point.

Player x wants to come home -> media have to speculate for 12 months where he's going, which according to them is anywhere but Collingwood -> Player x then nominates Collingwood -> Media report Collingwood can't get the trade done -> Sam McClure tells us all that player X isn't going to get to Collingwood -> then they start angling for every other club to jump in -> we do a merry dance of "Collingwood don't have money" vs "Collingwood have money so lets jack the price up" -> we get a haphazard report from Sam Edmund that Carlton still believe they can land Houston -> player X finally arrives at Collingwood -> then the media accuse player X of being any one of the following 1) not that great to being with 2) a better fit elsewhere 3) too old and a waste of cap space
