Watching the Dogs v Crows game last night, it hit me clearly that both teams' younger Tier 2 players are far higher quality than our Pies' Tier 2, specially in defence.

Crows had Worrell and Michalanny who are very impressive young players, Butts who showed something yesterday and even Murray was good. Noting Curtin and Keane (not exactly young anymore) weren't playing. Dogs had O'Donnell, Khamis, Lobb and Budarick (who looks like an awesome pick up).

Outside IQ and Maynard (not exactly young anymore), and Josh (who I don't think of as a classic defender but more a dash and use type) we have Parker who has played a handful of games and looks decent. The only other reliable defenders we have are Howe and Moore (who comes to play once or twice in a season).Where are our equivalent of Worrell, Michalanny, Curtin, O'Donnell... all early 20s?

You could probably argue a similar point in the middle, where the only elite young player we have is Nick. All our best midfielders are 30+: Pendles, Crisp, Sidey, Jordy. Long is young but a total scatter gun. Bulldogs have Richards and Freijah, Crows have Peatling, Berry, Draper, Soligo... the list goes on. Our Tier 2? Harry De Mattia and probably another handful of similar list cloggers

Apparently Cane’s top 5 are
1 Nick
2 Josh
3 Ginni
4 DC
5 Maynard

Ginni ahead of Maynard and DC is just a bit rich. Cornes also must not have the latest team list because Houston, Crisp, Shultz and Elliott would have to be listed. Also JDG.
Edit; I stopped there not because of complete thoughts, I stopped because I was time wasting.

Worrell isn't a tier 2 player. Star. Should have been in the AA team last year.

And you're not comparing like for like, you're comparing Adelaide's best 23 defenders with Parker. Having said that, every team would love to have their kpd depth. However, you'd expect them to lose 1 at the end of the year.

I'm just hoping that O'Bree can find some diamonds in the rough, as he was able to do with the Geelong list....
Its not all doom and gloom. I agree we could see some of our young talent fall by the way side after this season. Players like Ryan and DeMattia l fear for after this season. Allan's contract is up this year. Will the club persist with him or move him on?
We want to see West, Hayes, Harrison, Steene and Cochran get good opportunities this season at senior level. I think that’s a good bunch of kids coming through.
Im excited by Prindable, Swadling, McCarthy and Saxena, also Anderson, eventhough he's a more mature age rookie. All of Anderson, Prindable and Swadling could be seen at senior level this year.
I think we don't bottom out. I feel we will look at continually bringing role players in via free agency, other leagues (even local) and looking to find the occasional diamonds in the rough, eg. Steele.
I really believe O'Bree is at the Pies to develop that Geelong strategy in terms of list development.
Whether we go for or even get a big name free agent is questionable. Even if we don't, l think we will be bringing in other options, cheaper, but can play a role to keep us competitive....
We do also have a few father- son and NGA prospects coming through over the next few years.
Also Jen, is it true the NGA prospect Joshua Thomas who we thought was our NGA, but was aligned to Hawthorn, is now back as a NGA propect for us?

Kane is obviously just in the engagement bait game but even this just seems incredibly out of the blue?

Like okay?
This is the usual have a crack at Collingwood and Fly.
Ever since Korn stuck the middle finger up at Brodie Holland in 2002, he just hates Collingwood.
Brodes said it only took 20 years for Korn to apologise for that...lol

Add IQ ahead of Ginni. I’d still probably have Sidey and Pendles too

On form he has many things to do. All those apologies take time to complete.
Chris Scott has 2 🏆 in many years.
Mitchell has none.
McRae has one in his second year of 4 years coaching. Yo respect.

So glad I have traded SEN and Vol-Corn-o out. Got nothing back but my list is much better.
It’s a bit hit and miss for me. I still get sucked in to listening to them.

Although, G Lyon did read out my sms to Pendles wearing a shiny, glittery gold number 10 on his back when he breaks the games record…

Kane fully understands the nuance of the circumstances around Ginnivan leaving the Pies. Everyone including Ginni knows that he wouldn't be the same player if he stayed. It gave him a kick up the arse and he's matured a lot because of it.

Kane's style of media engagement means he takes a legitimate topic of conversation (Ginnivan's improvement), and intentionally structures it around a negative to get people riled up (Pies 'missed out'). It's genuinely not worth engaging in. Everyone should just respond to Kane's comments with positivity because it'd leave him directionless.

Good on Ginni for finding his own spot in a new team. He's a smart but slow player. I think the hole Mitchell has carved for him works at the Hawks, but probably wouldn't have worked at Collingwood. We've already got players who are smart with the ball.

what’s the knock on George Steven’s from Geel. Weren’t we interested some point?
34 disposals, 1 goal and 9 clearances (equal game high) in geelongs big win over Essendon yesterday. 82% disposal efficiency, albeit mostly handballs.

granted it was against weak opposition but he’s still only 20. Can’t see Allan or HDM putting up those sort of numbers

I think He’s also a delisted FA currently on rookie contract it seems

The first stage was deleting my text mid typing. The next was switching stations. The next was 20 seconds of listening. Now I just don’t tune in. My contact is now casual/walking through. For a long time I kept texting Maher that his show would be much better if he covered more than one team. I got creative then bored. I stopped. Each time I make an error in judgment and return, the quality has dropped. I find media talking about media is just trash.

That role won’t work under finals pressure, weak link IMHO. it works when you don’t have to be accountable
