Gees I can't stand the journos talking absolute shit about every single team and their drafts/trade potentials/contracts...I accept they have to keep busy, but boy oh boy George, they ramble and speculate well beyond their wisdom. ND is OOC in 2029, give it a rest!

Are there any players on the list we could trade out for draft capital? Developing players to play but also looking to capitalise on opportunities. It seems to me other than our obvious best players, we seem to have a list of role players that are not needed in other teams.

Our list build is interesting

If you mean our list in general as opposed to a specific list that someone has released?

My list for various reasons would include

De Goey
Long
McStay
McCreery
Bobby Hill
Lipinski
Crisp

Some of these are more get rid of to clear cap space. Others are about trade capital.

Beau is the one that would attract most interest.

There are others I could add but don't want to melt down the board

Clearing cap space has a natural progression about it but trade capital to improve the list is interesting. It seems like players we have traded recently gave us unders for various reasons.

Do we reward role players for their loyalty or do we trade them to grow? We have players that may get us late 2nd or 3rd rounders. Yet we have been a top four team recently. We are a team built of role players and that says a lot.

Alternatively we have to give up a lot to bring in players that make us better. We seem to pay overs compared to say Geelong.

I’d like to see some balance with list management.

Do we need to free up a list spot to take anyone in the mid season draft? If so, would another tall defender be our priority?

I think we'd be mad to narrow the field of prospects down by just looking at one player type.

Beyond this year, what do we need?

Mid - yes
KPD - yes
KPF - yes
Flankers - yes

Cal really is a bit of a loser these days. Way too much exposure for a draft nerd
He’s the same as every other flog in the afl media. Nobody knows how to stay in their lane anymore

Agree. The MSD isn’t deep enough to be picky with positions. Take whatever’s best available

If Bobby comes good, he is untouchable. Also I would only trade Beau if it was part of a package for someone like Butters.

I wouldn't trade him for a draft pick

According to this article, Nick is the only player at Collingwood in the top 20 highest paid in the league. Apparently earns $1.2-$1.3m/year from Collingwood and around $500k from other commercial arrangements.

You would think this leaves us very well positioned salary cap wise for the next few years. Also considering, Pendles, Howe and Sidebottom's retirements over coming years (all likely on around $500k) and De Goey ($850-$900k to 2027) and Moore's ($1m to 2028) contractS winding down.

The carry on from some about losing Miocheck is laughable.

Hawks moved on Mitchell, Hodge, Birchall etc when they all had more to offer and now they are in contention again.

You cannot just let every player play until the end. It doesn’t work. He isn’t the difference between a flag or not. There was no point giving him a new contract.

It's also very early in the season and Melbourne are enjoying a bright start. Let's see how long this continues for.

7 goals from 4 games is a nice return, however premierships aren't won in the months of March and April.

Last I heard, pendles. Howe were on below average income. 200-300k

Not to mention the craziness of judging whether or not we were correct not to offer a multi year deal to a banged up 33 year old by how he's gone in his first month with his new club.

It would have been irresponsible list management to keep Checkers on a long deal on more money. I’m glad he got his bag at the Dees and is doing well.

I hate talk of moving forwards to back, it can sometimes be good for development and on a few occasions it can work. Without Checkers and Cox there is talk of moving Howes to the backline. We also have Buller. If Checkers or Cox were playing it would be a short sugar hit at the expense of young player development. I loved both of them, didn’t want them to go but it was time. Well done pies.

And this is very early to say this...though especially how we extended Elliott and we're not getting much return from him at the moment.

It would've been a massive risk to extend both on more money.

I have to say I agree with him. We should be playing Nick every single week he’s available, which should put him in the top three percent. No way he should be in and out of the side with his ability.

Trade capital??? We would be grateful if they took over their contracts.
