Other than King who would you prefer? and for a key forward what do you consider output? I am concerned about King being a one trick pony... but his one trick is very good when you consider no forward has averaged more goals per game than him over the past 3 years (despite his limited kicks per game).

I'd offer a higher contract to Zac Bailey than King. Not a KPF, but in the high pressure games, I think you mainly want a really strong contest from your KPFs and the smalls do most of the damage.

He'd be good for us, but it's a price thing. I don't think he's worth a bomb.

Bang on! Big game player. Plus he's only 2-3 years older than Naicos so fits the right age profile.
Next step would be to see if we can get a young mid/fwd prospect through the draft as an apprentice to these 2.
Edwards (SA), Mellody (WA), Drever (VC) could be around our 1st pick this year.

I'm all for this on the provision that he's the second priority to some of the other names out there.

I just don't think we can bring in a 33 year old midfielder without landing a younger mid or key position player first.

as long as those KPP and young mid are free or cheap. It appears we prefer to go with FA and not give up currency route.
Maybe get a fringe player not getting a game. aka Lippa.

Hypothetically, probably in def, fwd. Doubt we get a ruck though, well, not before a mid and and key def. Unless there's a plan to use Darcy as our key forward.

Go hard for him. It'd have us in it up to our ears and buys time to add someone else. We all want someone elite who is younger, but can't assume we'll get it this year - with Neale on the list, we'd have a couple more years to have a crack to find another top shelf mid. Just add what you can when you can.

He's a week older than Mitchell now, let alone when we got Tom.

But he plays higher TOG than most inside mids and the bigger bench will extend careers. (Same with more teams, diluting the talent pool). And maybe the ruck change also makes good inside mids more valuable?

I think it's a good move.
