I’d have thought the same of Mihocek, but it destroyed his 2025 according to his Ball Magnets interview. Crisp is the one I look at (even though he has the trigger) and wonder after losing his two best mates and remaining so loyal for so long whether he could look to cash in elsewhere given he thinks he has another 5 years in him. I’m not anticipating it happens it did cross my mind though.
The poor kid has had his fair whack of injuries since being drafted incl. a foot injury that progressively worsened over time just after he was drafted.
Context for Checkers is very different to most 33 year old AFL players. He only had an eight year career for us. The first couple would have been on a standard Aussie wage. Year 1 as a rookie would have been $70,000+ match payments. Most blokes still playing AFL at 33 won't have to work again if they don't want to. He will and won't slot straight into the industry and isn't particularly suited to talking at sportsmen nights. He needs to cash in from playing.

The ground in WA is terrible for foot injuries because it's so hard, he may have better luck playing on our grounds more often as they are softer, except for Marvel.
I would hope that each and everyone of us over the age of 16 is familiar with his journey. Not to mention that it was something he covered in the podcast. The point still stands though that Crisp has forgone a lot of money over the years and we can’t ignore the possibility that he no longer has the same emotional bond to the club he once did with Checkers and WHE alongside him for the previous 8 years. All of this is theoretical of course and ultimately unlikely to come to pass, but I think it would be naive to think there won’t be broken eggs to make an omelette in 2027 inclusive of Neale and King. It’s a relatively minor egg, but I for one wouldn’t complain if Allan is plying his trade for his dad’s old club next year with O’Driscoll replacing him.
If the definition is 30+ in 2027 then outside the eldest 3 I have Crisp, Elliott, Neale, Cameron, Moore, Maynard, Membrey, Frampton, McStay, Houston and JDG (Shoota is 30 after GF day).
I think the whole point is if Crisp leaves for money, they won't care. They'll thank him for fabulous service and shake his hand.

Quite possibly and at this stage I think all three of the older crew are probable’s for 2027. I suspect though that the club will look to transition the list in phases which means a few depart each year and a challenging offseason from a cuts perspective.
