Noah Cameron is 2026, and isn't much good.

Jackson Bridge isn't much chop either and Stolz is a Lions Academy kid, not Suns.

There are some kids from Maroochydore in this age group, names lost to me right now, who are very very good.

Will be interested in seeing the makeup of the 2 Vic teams (I assume they field 2 teams) at the carnival. After following this age group for the last 6 years (particularly YJFL and lately APS and AGSV), I’d assume a few of the more developed players will be selected. Some of these kids are still very young in development and have a heap of growth ahead.

Keep an eye on Eastern Football Netball League and potential draftees for 2027. In the 2023 U14 Interleague comp, the YJFL were not able to score a goal in the first 3 quarters against EFNL Interleague. EFNL went undefeated for the carnival. Both EFNL & YJFL were stacked with quality.

2023 EFNL U14 interleague players invited to Eastern Ranges as bottom agers...
Josh Djordevic - Donvale
Ryder Ham - East Ringwood
Caiden Moran - Wantirna South
Murphy Quinn - Vermont
Baxter Sruk - Lysterfield
Jack Sudomirski - East Ringwood
Jack Zammit - Vermont

Probably too early to do this but this is probably the first draft and cohort the Tasmanian side get a proper look in as the established 19th club.

2025 (secondary) and 2026 (primary) will be the years in which the foundations of the Tassie team are set.

From what little we saw in a 2021 U12's game, Sachin Tyrrell from Victoria is in this pool.
There's also a 196cm player from Queensland called Max Boothey but not sure if he's a Brisbane or Gold Coast Sun academy prospect. (Ping Thommo 42.)

Also, 2 F/S prospects played in the same game as Tyrrell.

Kobe Bewick (Essendon) and Tevita Rodan (Port Adelaide.)

Perhaps a Burgoyne (Percy) is up for grabs for Port Adelaide or Hawthorn.

Look forward to seeing which of the names who will be mentioned in this thread will end up starting their careers with Tassie.

When Gold Coast and GWS came into the comp, didn’t they respectively get access to a large group of 17 year olds 2 yrs prior to joining the AFL comp?

If the AFL follows a similar path the 2026 draft will also have a lot of talent that may be off limits to the rest of the competition to allow Tasmania first choice.

Sort of. The Suns and Giants had access to 20 17-year-olds from their own state two years prior to entering the AFL and the following year they had access to 12 17-year-old players from around Australia who were born before May.

So, assuming Tassie enters the AFL in 2028, if they were to follow the same entry conditions as the Suns and Giants then they would have access to 20 Tasmanian players who are turning 17 in 2026 at the end of 2025 then access to 12 players from around Australia who are turning 17 in 2027 at the end of 2026. So you'd want to be looking out for Tasmanians who are draft eligible in 2026/27 and any highly rated player from all over Australia that's draft eligible in 2027 AND born before May.

Tasmania will of course field a team in the U16s national championships this year so that will be our first real indication of players that should end up playing for the new Tasmanian AFL team. If there are any standout bottom agers competing in the U16 national championships then they will probably also be on Tassie's radar. Then you've also got players from all over Australia competing in the U15s schoolboy national championships this year so those players who are born before May will also be ones to keep an eye on for Tassie.

So we'll have a much better idea of what Tasmania's inaugural AFL playing list could look like once we get to about August and all the national championship games have been played.

Deep down I always thought I was an exception

The only exception is Paramore.

But, yeah, I'm now 14 years older than some of the draftees.

Imagine this.
It's 2032.

Port Adelaide vs Footscray.

Connor Rozee and Aaron Naughton's last years of their current contracts.
Rozee is 32 years old while Naughton turns 33 in November.

Potentially watching them in the crowd are teammates born in 2013.

Scary thought hey.

Meanwhile, those our age flood the coaching and media ranks and Tassie is into its 5th season.

And Tom Hawkins announces his retirement

If any of these names are pre-listed by Tassie, it'll be exciting.
