Everyone stop getting so excited; the entire thing is predicated on Jake having a "good think" about it.
???

Hmm, let me think. I can go to St Kilda for a few hundred k more, and mentor some kids and maybe one day play finals, or I could join the reigning premiers and get a medal. Big decision

Laverde definitely slipped. He was rated a top 10 pick and somehow slipped through the cracks. Langford was projected to get picked up somewhere between 12-20.

With the draft being apparently shallow in talent, wouldn't 9 be better than 15 and 18? I dunno honestly.
Not much difference between pick 9 and pick 18. Shallow draft usually refers to 35 and beyond, top end talent is roughly about the same.

To you and I it's pretty straightforward, but, um, by all reports, Jake's a bit limited upstairs.

would you say they've been hard to deal with?

They were a couple of years ago, not sure if the same people are there.

You guys are lucky that Carlisle is prepared to go to Hawthorn, I guess it was lucky the other party wasn't Brisbane.

Yep....First 3 pick themselves, then you can throw a blanket over roughly 20 kids....Then comes the cliff.

Disco on TWR as of about 10 minutes ago.

Hawthorn approach only happened yesterday.

We like the 2 first rounder deal, would do it.

As of yesterday 5 is still off the table.

On negotiating with the Saints if they do pull their entire forearm out of their arse "You look at anything, but right now we're committed to Hawthorn."

yeah to me it didnt sound like there's much wiggle room for the aints to get back in the game,

Hopefully closer to 30, considering we may have 5 picks within the top 25 :D.

General consensus is top 25 is pretty decent but shallow thereafter. I'd be perfectly happy with 15 and 18. If St.Kilda still won't part with 5 then that's fine.
We would have 4, 15, 18, 23, 25. I'd actually be really excited with that. We could probably grab 2 midfielders, a quality tall, a mid sized forward/crumbing type and then whatever else is around.

We shall see how it unfolds but having a good number of picks in that top 25 will really help us rebuild with quality and a few years down the track we could be looking back to this draft as the beginning of our next good run.

hawthorn definitely in front now was my read. I still feel like we'd do a straight swap deal for 5 if the saints wanted to pull the trigger on it, so in that regard he's still theirs to lose. They just seem pretty intent on losing him

25 is on the edge of the precipice.

All of the Academy / FS picks in Hopper, Mills, Kennedy, Hipwood, Keays, Dunkley & Himmelberg will comprise a fair percentage of the top-end talent....Take away the top 3 in Weitering, Schache & Francis, then that leaves slim pickings indeed.

****in St Kilda, what a bunch of jokers

I've been thinking all week they don't have a plan and it appears they still don't

They could have finished this a week ago

If you want a player, either pay the price or stop wasting everybody's time.

There's a reason that rabble have won one flag in 120-odd years...

Quite possibly a pride thing too. Hard to hand it over after categorically saying you wouldn't.

Saints standing watching Carlisle go by like...

Id seriously get this done, then have a crack at Freeman - offer them one of our top 25 picks that doesn't start with 4, and get it done.
