Whenever they said we were too young, it was always a fair call, but 26.3 is the perfect number. It symbolizes that we are now ready to compete for a Premiership.

When Collingwood runs out for Round 1 this weekend, they'll have the 3rd oldest squad in the AFL behind only Geelong and Sydney who are 26.8 and 26.4 for this weekend.

It is now our time. The boys are now men.

According to the HUN's new "full strength" measure, our average of our selected/best 22 is 25.42 with an average games of 117.

Either way, age is irrelevant and so is the "youth" excuse.

Everyone knows it is the quality of the youth, not the quantity.

Luckily for us we have quality in abundance and we now have the experience capable of challenging for silverware.

that full strength indicator is interesting, i wouldn't put goldsack ahead of toovey as a back pocket

Not sure if whoever game up with the 'best 22' they are using watched many collingwood games last year if they came to that conclusion :p

other than that it is an intriguing tool/stat

I got the HUN infront of me, we're 26.3 and the Doggies are 25.4.

I also believe age has everything to do with it. We now have the right mix of veterans (Tarks, Presti, Obs), players in their prime (Didak, Davis, Jolly, Medders), stars entering their prime (Pendles, Shaw, Thomas, Cloke) and the talented kids (Beams, Sidey, Caff) to challenge. It's very relevant.

Isaiah 26.3

If a man sings of God and hears of Him,
And lets love of God sprout within him,
All his sorrows shall vanish,
And in his mind, God will bestow abiding peace.

lol, what can you make with that?

wicksy, help? :p

Well there you go - it's our year! And on SEN this morning Dermott Brereton said we could win the flag, so it's practically a certainty. Just have to play a few games.:thumbsu:

hate those pesky formalities!

The Gregorian Calendar, working with a year of 365.2425 days, requires that there be a leap year every 4 years, excluding century and millennium years evenly divisible by 100 but, in those same century and millennium years, that there be a leap year if that year is evenly divisible by 400. Thus, for the Gregorian Calendar,
if abs(year*) MOD 4 = 0 then leap year = TRUE, but
if abs(year*) MOD 100 = 0 then leap year = FALSE, but
if abs(year*) MOD 400 = 0 then leap year = TRUE
*please note that you must use astronomer's years for this calculation
This particular formula works in almost all situations, except for a singular problem in the value to the tropical year.
Most published dates appear to be calculated from a value of 365.2422 days per year, a value actually out by some +26.3 seconds per year*.

*This year....Our year.

That's mad :thumbsu:

In a wider context, the average age of our entire list is 23 years and 145 days
Geelong's is 23 years and 245 days

If a man sings of footy and hears of Bucks,
And lets love of Collingwood sprout within him,
All his sorrows shall vanish,
And in September, the Pies will bestow a premiership.:thumbsu:
