Past #26: Tarryn Thomas [Part III] - [C.Twomey] AFL rules TT is eligible to play in all competitions as of 14 October

Still got NFI what he did the first time? Not threaten to distribute an intimate image, but more using a carriage service to harass? Of which wasn't convicted of anyway and asked/forced to pay $1000 to charity?

Just saying what I am hearing. I am told TT result will not be good for TT (significant suspension). Should be something official shortly. Like many on here I am not quite sure how the AFL become judge and executioner but I suppose their one size fits all is bringing the game into disrepute. Just saying what I am hearing. I suspect delay is all about checking their legals before they announce.
If what you’re suggesting is true then we really should consider getting rid of him now.

Because this will be another year of bad press, coach & others pressed with questions about TT. Also….if he’s leaving at the end of the season like most people believe he is….by playing him in the 2nd half of the year all we are doing is setting him up for whichever club wants him. That club (regardless of his on field form) won’t hand over a 1st round pick for him….no way.

So we’re gonna keep him around for a 2nd/3rd round selection? We’ve banked heavily the last couple years in the draft and we’ll get another high calibre draftee at the end of the year. We don’t need whatever compensation a club is willing to give us for him.

Rip the bandaid off and be done with it.

Hard no.

It's not "a bit of fun" to threaten to spread sexual content of another person, regardless of the consent that content was created with. It's against the law. Against the law to do it, against the law to threaten to do it.

It's not "a bit of fun" to send sexually explicit pictures of yourself to anyone without their consent either. It's against the law as well.

They are both forms of sexual harassment, the former being a form of domestic violence becuase threats are used to control.
I hope no dyslexics on here have been offended given the subject matter at hand.

For the amount of investment we have put into TT and the return we have got back, he has totally screwed our club.

No way would I be doing TT a "Final favour", by accepting a 2nd or 3rd, so he can go to the club of his choice...

He can go to the draft and "hope" he gets to where he wants to go.

If a club really wants TT and doesnt want to risk losing him in the draft, they will offer something decent.

We owe him nothing.

Yeah but he'd been flaunting his bad s**t in public for years
As opposed to Daniel Kerr who was repeatedly caught on and off the field the same time?

The whole disrepute thing with Cousins was to make an example out of him out of the general "it's the vibe" rather than any actual hard evidence.

At least Justin Charles was actually caught for his 16 game holiday.

Lol who sent u?

I see no issue with a lengthy suspension, probably a good outcome tbh.
Maybe the penny will drop. The AFL is a strange beast, as I've said before, you can find redemption at your original club, you don't need to go elsewhere to achieve that.

The fella clearly has some issues to deal with, not sure a two week part time course will fix those. In saying that, General B. Scott did a two week online course re sports science and he guided our fitness program, so what would I know.

Anyway I hold out some hope for TT, but tbh I'm not overly invested in the outcome, one of the lucky ones I suppose. Just hate trial by media and other clubs supporters on BF being far too invested in an outcome that has no bearing on them. I find that very strange. I've never said a word or suggested an outcome on any other player in any other team, I actually couldn't give a fucl<

No, I see a lengthy suspension as more incentive for him to leave at the end of the year. Or for opposition clubs to gain more leverage to steal him. We wont offer him a big contract if this happens.

I'm not happy with the thought of losing one of our 5 best players because he's a immature arseh*le, even though it seems inevitable at this point.

Let's define lengthy.

Hard to see anything more than three games on the top.

And the AFL does like a suspension imposed on players who wouldn't have got a game anyway

That’s not how it works.

If you send a derogatory text to a woman then you will find yourself in trouble.

If you send a derogatory text to a male no one will care unless it’s a minority or something progressive.

I think it's fair to suggest that derogatory or at least bitter and angry messages have probably been sent back and forth between both sides (and with multiple women) but where Tarryn has stepped over the line is that some of these women have felt threatened or violated by the messages he has responded with. Again, not necessarily to a criminal level, but not cool on Tarryn's part. He needs to learn to walk away and not be provoked into a regrettable response.

The thing I don't like about this is you are most assume the complainants genuinely felt violated or threatened to an extent where Tarryn must be punished for it. Just because of the political climate we find ourselves in we automatically believe it to be the case. Otherwise you just get shot down for victim blaming. Who cares about facts, right?

It's 2024, how about blocking his ****ing phone number?. If it is worse than that then get a restraining order. If it's DV go to the police or ring 1800RESPECT. That's what would happen if it was any other ordinary arseh*le. But no, Tarryn is a public figure, there is another course of action... an AFL integrity unit with zero integrity and a bias to cover their own arses and perpetuate the AFL's image of political correctness.

Many years ago I did lots of work in Scotland with Strathclyde cops when they were (successfully) trying to reduce the horrific youth murder rate in Glasgow.

One thing they found out by working with various medical and psychological experts is just how early - talking in utero - brains are hard wired to conflict or aggression as a way of dealing with stressful situations ... classic fight or flight stuff.

This conditioning can obviously be undone, but it takes time and effort and is very much a process rather than one and done.

I reckon London to a brick thats Tarryn's core issue - he's been conditioned to aggression and conflict as a way of dealing with stress.

And you know what, growing up out in Blacktown doing it tough, that's a perfectly rational way to live, its necxessary even.

But he's not there now, and he's got to learn to change how he deals with stress in relationships.

if it is a lengthy suspension he'd probably be thinking to himself "would this happen to me if I played at a bigger club"

And rightfully so because we're all thinking it. Sadly, it could be a reason as to why he leaves next year. So end result is North get the raw deal again.

You could leverage that by saying North get treated by the AFL the way Balckfellas get treated by Australian society and invoke that "us against the world" vibe too.

The real deciding factor will be if we start winning games and are clearly on the rise and footy is fun

How about you don’t abuse women?

Could well be. And as a fan, I always hope those sorts of things matter most for players (or the type of loyalty Larkey showed) but I get the feeling that money will be the biggest factor on this occasion.

Lengthy might mean 4 weeks plus 11 suspended.

The AFL could frame it as a 15 week suspension with 4 to be served immediately to show they take the abuse of women seriously.

Something like that might be the incentive he needs to stop and take a breath before hitting send.

Whatever they do, I just hope it happens soon.
