I'm hopeful this is a sign of a club that is much better at seeing where it is at and making a call when they think a season simply won't go our way irrespective of talent on the park.

Hawks had him father-son and the kid was a great sized key forward. Any club wants developing talented key forwards on their list.

Yet Hawthorn checked out his medicals and said "no thanks".

Don't forget that somehow with that rag tag bunch of misfits they reached top 4 in 2018 .

Let that sink in. With a list of shitmen that we beat up twice Alistair Clarkson still got them top 4. They equaled our best results in 20 years with that pile of shite.

So the topping up looks a bit weird from the outside but those sorts of additions could've stolen them a premiership due to a canny coach using his crap tools wisely.
