If he’s fit and firing why not.
Poor bastards been through enough and doubt very much he’d knock back an opportunity to play at the G in front of 50k instead of 5k at Williamstown.

Regardless, hope he rips Stewart a fresh one…

More of a chance Groupie_ losing his virginity this weekend.

Agree with the sentiment that he’s just as likely to get injured in the VFL so no reason to hold him out based on that

I am more surprised he’s been selected seeing his VFL form hasn’t really been all that amazing

They must figure he needs the boost to his spirits before another long pre season

Probably just to give him confidence and reward for the hard work he has done to get back

Do people really think playing 5-6 VFL games is worse preparation than a preseason? If he can't play now, he never will.

Seems a lot of people just don't want our players to ever play when they recover.

Approach was cautionary with Lalor but he got injured and they screamed mismanagement, like it wasn't just rotten luck. Hotton, Young, Prestia, Armstrong etc have all come in and been perfectly fine, and Gibcus has played for near a couple of months, and is just as likely to get injured in the VFL like Judson Clarke and Campbell Gray.

I suppose they just want nobody to play post an injury ever again - we'd have about 10 players available for selection if we left availability up to some of these blokes - If you've ever been injured, you're out for the season.

If we continue to play him in a lower paced, lower demand VFL he has a lower risk of injury and heads into an off season and preseason in full health.

Play him now in a higher paced, higher demand AFL environment and you risk everything, including his career.

For mine it doesn't make sense.

The club wouldn't play him if he is anywhere but fully fit.

It shouldn't be the most intense footy game ever.

If he's that ****ed that a single game poses too much risk, he would retire.

Worth playing this week, but also seems underdone.
Only in comparison to every other player who's done 23 weeks of senior footy.

Otherwise, he's done a pretty normal pre-season for Round 1, if not more.

We're not expecting great things, just getting Josh through the match unscathed and with the confidence to attack the off-season will be our big win here.
