I know he got caught out at the higher level, but the boy has time with the ball in hand, a quality you can't buy.

Silky

He hasn't really had a proper chance to flourish yet given our number of tall backs.

One week we were shuffling Logue, Corr, Pink, and Whitlock in the 2's, left out Tomlinson and moved W Dawson forward.

My caution (not stating it as a weakness) is the reverse of Wil Dawson.

Dawson is a lump of a kid who I'm TBC about having the class to go with his size at AFL level.

Matlock looks classy but will he become robust enough to have the big man qualities required to thrive at AFL level?

I could very much see a Jake Lever type emerging. See enough to be very optimistic.

KC , W Dawson has the “campaigner” and competitor in him which will hold him in good stead. This alone can be a point of difference. See Jacko Archer.

Micky them rookies need to be likened to a very good footballer very early in their career. Please see below

Don't worry about Wil he reminds me of Riley Thilthorpe at the same age, besides Riley kicking 5 goals on debut and Wil never kicking one, but in his third game we won, yes he went off early with a serious injury and didn't touch the ball.

But we've seen the light and moved him to the fwd line. And FYI only loosers ( BF for losers) play in the back half. And fyi while I may not have had the greatest career, I never played down back. Maybe my coach stating I'm too ****en small for the backline, and take that helmet off FFS!

And it is one of my points of angst, I think the man Wil will be in 2029 is a tough nut FF. And Whitlock will be the fancy floating CHB, but that is 2029. And both those boys will be around 23 years of age. Riley is about to turn 23.
Not sure on who we missed in the tall department, but yeah it's a hole and we've plugged it with kids, that are a few years away.

Best I not start likening players to Mark Arceri then.

You might be on to something wee man.

Will Dawson shows all the signs of being a great full forward. Except for any demonstrated ability to kick lots of goals in a game at any level.

Yes and that's the point isn't it, the ability to see what one wants to see. It's been officially named the Wil Phillips Syndrome.
They've set up a helpline fyi if you know of any suffers, they can organise an intervention.

Well I'm backing Will in at FF, because a few of them great footballing experts around here (90% are on ignore fyi) said he can't play fwd. So that is enough for me to say he can.

If it helps he might win a Reverse Coleman one day.

wish I was a little bit taller, wish I was a baller, wish I had a girl who looked good, I would call her, I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a six-four impala

This kid has it. Like BG , and FOS. We need to get games into him. We should be trying to get him a match up on the oppositions best medium foward in the seniors. Just need to fast track him.
Debut showed his composure, despite being taken down a couple of times on the end of hot potato handballs.

Will be a huge plus when he fills out.
