Broad was one of three players that changed the course of 2017. I had him a certainty to be delisted and then he got injured early in the year. Next minute he’s in the team filling a gap we desperately needed filled. Then we had Townsend and Graham who helped propel us to the flag.

I respect him more for sticking around now when it looks like a few of his mates are jumping ship.

From memory he had a couple of forgettable games in 2016, in a side that was forgettable. His 2015 draft highlight reel showed he could be a Rance-lite running athletic defender. Come to 2017 and the coaches got him ready for a late season debut. Has hardly missed a beat since.

Fair enough call, when you consider the amount of experience we’ll lose at the end of the season. He’s a decent role model for the next generation, plays a selfless game
Looks like his body is holding up pretty well for his age, doesn’t cop many soft tissue injuries and still covers the ground.

He was already signed for 2025… this is just a one year extension. If he left as a FA we’d get no compensation. I don’t this is a big deal either way…. I think I read he’s only missed 1 game through injury since 2021, so at least he plays!

He’s had a lot more than a couple. He and Vlaustuin have had to sacrifice their game to hold done a backline with very little defensive intent. Especially without grimes to tell young and Balta where to stand all game.
