More info on Thomas Jonas:
TJ endured the most difficult year of his career in 2015. He battled for form throughout and was dropped and played for the Magpies for 5 straight weeks from rounds 15 through 19. He often looked slow and uncharacteristically fumbly for a player who has been so dependable for so many years now. He is one player who most definitely has a lot to prove heading into 2016.

Notes:
2011 was a great year for Tom. His form for Norwood in the SANFL was very good and after a move into the midfield, he saw himself upgraded onto Port Adelaides senior list and played 4 games at AFL level for the year.

After moving to the midfield in Round 7, he made the best players twice in three weeks before injuring a hand which kept hi out for nearly two months. When he came back, he played just the two games at SANFL level before making his AFL debut against Hawthorn in Round 21. He was given a baptism of fire, standing the great Luke Hodge, but despite the bad result, Tom kept Hodge in check and made the best players. He was solid against the Bulldogs the next week before two quiet games to end his AFL season.

He went back to Norwood for the finals where he performed quite well, averaging 18 disposals and over 4 marks across three finals. Tom impressed most with his ability to stick to a task, his fitness is very good and he rarely wastes the ball. Tom has an AFL body and I would expect him to make more of an impression in 2012.

Jonas has won the 2012 Coaches Award. Terrific effort for the reliable, no-nonsense defender who has been excellent in shutting down his direct opponent in the second half of the season

ELEVATED rookie Tom Jonas has been announced as the recipient of the Coaches Award at Friday night's John Cahill Medal

Jonas was upgraded from the rookie list for the second time in as many years ahead of the Power's fixture against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.

His nine games at AFL level this year were backed in by numerous strong performances at the Norwood Redlegs in the SANFL where he led the defensive line as an effective centre half back.

Presented his award by Port Adelaide ruck and midfield coach Shaun Rehn, Jonas was recognised for his demonstrated qualities of being competitive, selfless and earning the trust of his team.

Notes:
Tom impressed again in 2012, starting the season on the rookie list before playing 9 games for the year. Tom did some defensive jobs on some strong opposition against Geelong, Adelaide and Fremantle and continued to look the part as a developing backman throughout the year. His solid form at AFL level, size and ability to shut down both small and tall players has seen him promoted to the senior list for 2013.
