That’s why T&D includes ‘development’ of your staff.

I may to a small degree be aware of business management practices. Yes, many businesses are turning to specialisation, as they seek to become the provider of choice in a market niche. Even better if your innovative product or service creates that niche. The strategy is essentially to become the big fish in a smaller pond, as opposed to the other way around.

Whilst it is true that professionals, such as sportsmen, that are driven and focused on their area of speciality can deliver highly effective results, managers have a broader outlook. They are focused on macro management; why the organization exists, what it will deliver, and how it will behave. Thinking about the strategical rather than the technical.

The management development program needs to be cognisant of the needs of management. Several tactics should be employed, including inter agency secondments. One tactic I recommend is to ‘talk to the unusual suspects’. These could be inside or outside your organization, but whoever they are, choose them because they are likely to disagree with you, challenge you, or tell you something you don’t know. Membership in MIA, CCIQ, SBAA, Rotary etc extends your personal development and network as well. The business truism of “if you haven’t got time to do it right, you certainly haven’t got time to do it wrong” applies here.

Maintaining the status quo is not an answer - it is a given in business that if you are not progressing you are regressing.

You have identified some problems with specialisation, but that is good. As managers, that is chiefly our job - to solve problems or, even more preferable, foresee problems before they occur (as you have done).

I have limitless confidence in the ability of the human mind, working in teams, to provide solutions to problems that have previously seemed insurmountable. There is no reason to believe that humankind will not continue to evolve along similar lines.
Why does you post sound like a corporate promotional ad?

In an interview by Time Magazine, Ukrainian President Zelensky - “Look, I never talked to the president from the position of a quid pro quo. That’s not my thing," he said. "I don’t want us to look like beggars." "But you have to understand. We're at war," he added. "If you’re our strategic partner, then you can’t go blocking anything for us. I think that’s just about fairness. It’s not about a quid pro quo. It just goes without saying."
Trump is pointing to that statement as good for him.:D

Have you had a chance to look at the Republicans Minority report just released? It is fun to read if you are into word salads.

Thank god that over the years our soldiers have not put their Party and selves before their country.

Yet we all know how this will be finalised - it will fail in the Senate as evidence will be irrelevant - the vote will totally be along party lines.
Can there be a greater f***you to the Founding Fathers.
US Politics has become just another reality show , Trump was on the money with his shithole countries comment except he should have been describing his own backyard.

Trump's tariffs negatively affecting more US businesses.

"A surprising number of people that I talk to — you know, smart, intelligent, well-read people — think that somehow China is paying the tariffs," Digre says.

Perhaps that's because President Trump keeps making that claim. Recently, Trump told Fox News he's in no hurry to make a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"He wants to make it much more than I want to make it," Trump said. "I'm not anxious to make it. We're taking in hundreds of billions of dollars in tariffs."

The actual tariff bill is tens of billions of dollars, not hundreds of billions. And for China to absorb that cost, researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said last week that Chinese suppliers would have to cut their prices by about 20%. So far, the price of Chinese imports has fallen just 2%.

Americans are paying the rest.

You think the people that matter take any notice of Kardashian and Trump tweets?? Seriously. Most don’t have time to watch the news let alone the ‘village idiots’ or Big Brother, Farmer Takes a Wife.

Different worlds.

you have widely misinterpretated how this meme-making works, Trump lets everyone else on the net do his work, and forced a binary cleft.

folks dont need to read tweets, to get pissed at him. If you like him, you will sfellow and agree, validity be damned. What was his kite-raising/flying about Greenland and Denmark? miniscule quantity read the original tweet. But you just know the 4th Estate will amplify it to all in the western world, and do his job for him.

His twitter ouevre is not a serious platform. Ask any foreign diplomat if they place two thoughts in his twitter stream. They dont.

But feel free to take me for a fool, maggie is content to

And nobody will listen when you whine that "snowflakes" aren't getting your jokes. Enjoy the view from the peanut gallery.

Oh that’s right - 3D chess. The man that doesn’t read, thinks preparation and planning is a waste of time, knows more than the generals, IT engineers et al

He gets up in the morning, watches several hours of news, sends off a few tweets and then phones up his campaign manager. Strategic planning doesn’t enter into it. Staff have given up on any meaningful briefs or presentations - just not his thing.

No excuse though for you not reading, or googling info posted by other members. His senior staff in the White House think he is a moron. His staff at Trump Inc took no notice of what he said, because it was a continual stream of BS. There is a reason he has no friends - it is not a conspiracy.

Trump lied again, about something obvious that could be checked quickly.

25th amendment time, he's clearly in need of help

Imagine if something important happened that required steady, clever leadership - they'd be ****ed.

Which reminds me, over the weekend I thought about his re-election chances, and I wondered what the odds were of some kind of war-like international incident brings up a George W Bush "you don't change horses midstream" moment?

He could bomb a few apartment blocks and blame it on rebels from Chechnya.

Howard used the Tampa 'threat', so Trumpy with Iran? Again?

China still has a GDP the US would die for and the US trade deficit with China is still significant.

However the real fun will start when China's OBOR strategy kicks in - I suspect Xi's end game is to optimise European/Asia trade significance to a level for China that makes far less reliance on US volumes for China's growth.
It will take time but that will allow China to stop buying or sell off US Treasury Bonds ( China is the major holder) - when that happens US interest rates will rise dramatically and the R Word or even D Word comes into play. Boom.

As well as OBOR China is completely focused on new and high growth industries which is what Trump should be doing instead of trying to bring back dinosaur industries to appease his base.

Looking forward would contradict the narrative he has been weaving:

In the past, fascist politics would focus on the dominant cultural group. The goal is to make them feel like victims, to make them feel like they’ve lost something and that the thing they’ve lost has been taken from them by a specific enemy, usually some minority out-group or some opposing nation.

This is why fascism flourishes in moments of great anxiety, because you can connect that anxiety with fake loss. The story is typically that a once-great society has been destroyed by liberalism or feminism or cultural Marxism or whatever, and you make the dominant group feel angry and resentful about the loss of their status and power. Almost every manifestation of fascism mirrors this general narrative.

Breitbart 101, Try telling that to the Trumpanzees.

Its hard to admit you've been conned by such an obvious con. Trumpy is just the poster boy, enjoying the ride.

Years of the same dribble, obvious lies, outright BS & diversion, yet they carry on about 'the Swamp', Killary, Obumma.

Just sad.
