A thread for the deaths of all those arseholes who should have died a long time ago.

Edit: to be updated with new names as and when deserved.

Edit: this clip is the spirit animal of this thread. Guessing she’s talking about Maggie thatcher but applicable to the people that should make an appearance here

Welcome to the club Henry Kissinger. Good *en riddance.

Holocaust survivor, and Nobel Peace prize winner, who pulled US troops out of Vietnam, and opened up relations with China and the Soviet Union, de-escalating the threat of Mutually assured destruction via a Nuclear Armageddon.

Ding dong.

I always thought he was a warmonger and admittedly didn’t know about the peace prize. He left Germany in 1938, couldn’t find anything on him being persecuted whilst there. What classifies as a holocaust survivor?

Under Kissinger, the US droped 270 million bombs on Laos, despite never declaring war.

That's 100 bombs for every man, woman and child in Laos at the time. Imagine if you're the one in 1970 making $100 per bomb dropped. And this is only Laos, not including Cambodia or Vietnam.....
He managed to keep the carpet bombings of those countries secret from Congress.
Definitely an asterisk Nobel Peace Prize.

A Timeline of the Holocaust (1933 - 1945)

His family literally fled Germany in 1938, the year of Kristallnacht.

Kristallnacht - Wikipedia

The Shoah started on the 30th of January 1933 with the swearing in of Hitler as Chancellor, the passing of the Enabling Act, and the 'Law for the Restoration of the Civil Service'.

Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service - Wikipedia

The Neurenberg laws were in full effect by 1935.

Kissinger initiated Operation Linebacker II during those "peace talks".

Where the Vietnamese had stalled, so the US carpet bombed Hanoi for a week over Christmas (referred to as the Christmas bombings) until the Vietnamese agreed to come back to the table.

Hardly Peace Prize worthy for making a peace deal at the barrel of a gun.

So then you can do whatever you want to other people because of what happened to you. Pretty sure that's how Hitler rose to power in the first place, complaining about what Europe had done to Germany from the outside and what Jews had done from the inside.

But this is practically the thinking of the Israeli Govt at the moment. We went through the holocaust and said "Never again", so now we just do it to others.

Kissinger's family and himself went through a lot, so therefore the mass murder of a good chunk of SE Asia and Sth America is OK?

Cambodia?

The country where over 1 million people were systemically murdered in the early 70s by the Socialist Khmer Rogue after the Seppos pulled out of the region?

No, if you survived the direct attempts by the Nazis to kill you, then you can say you're a Holocaust survivor.

Not saying his family didn't suffer hardships, but let's not dress it up, shall we?

No, if you survived the direct attempts by the Nazis to kill you, then you can say you're a Holocaust survivor.

What? So you have to have actually scaled the walls of Auschwitz to be a Holocaust survivor?

The Nazis and their supporters had literally murdered Jewish people, burned down Synagoges, stripped them of property, forced them out of their jobs, and imprisoned many of them as 'partisans' by the time his family fled Germany.

Youre a hard marker to say the least.

And with 50 Laotians killed every year, including now, from unexplored ordnance dropped by America they still act as if they’re the good guys:

Kissinger’s shameful record also includes:

Support Pakistan’s genocide against Bangladesh

Supporting Indonesia’s invasion and genocide of Timor Leste (Australia did too)

Disrupting and delaying negotiations for a ceasefire in the Yom Kippur war to allow Israel to steal more territory in the Golan Heights and Sinai

Allowing the Iranian dictator the Shah to run wild with his policies in Iran

Supported and assisted with Pinochet’s coup and regime of murder in Chile

Supported the Argentine military junta’s coup and “Dirty War”.

Supported the Brazilian military dictatorship and their attempt to gain nuclear weapons

Tried to stop plans from Portugal to grant independence to their colonies.

Backed the Zaire military dictatorship.

Basically he continued the foreign policy agenda of the US - coup, bomb and dictate.

Almost every definition of the Holocaust recognises it as being from 1941-1945: when Nazi Germany invaded the USSR - losing the massive food subsidies they were receiving from Stalin to keep the peace - and realised that they couldn't feed everyone in their territories, so decided the easiest solution was to kill all of the Jews.
