Only a few months ago they were whinging about a UN report stating that poverty is getting worse under Trump, telling them to focus on other countries poverty not theirs.

To be fair the war on poverty is largely over. Not completely but largely. Go back 50 years and see what poverty rates are compared to today. Steven Pinker has written a fantastic book going through all the statistics. It is largely over. Its a great achievement of mankind and we should be celebrating it

Trump populists adopting extreme lefty policies on globalisation, trade and extreme keynes fiscal policy and ignoring expert advice on science and economics. True still surprising me how low he can get. Every time he speaks I am reminded of something Gough Whitlam said, should apply to Trump.

Whitlam was once persistently hectored by a man demanding to know his opinion on abortion: "Let me make quite clear that I am for abortion and, in your case Sir, we should make it retrospective!"

None of them would be net tax payers but they are either a fringe element or mostly uni students. But trumps base is where most of the unemployed are. Democrat states send money to republican states because democrats earn more money and pay more tax. Republicans cant complain about welfare as they are ones who recieve the welfare.

I'm not sure what to believe here because someone (meds maybe?) posted stats that showed Trump voters were wealthier on average than Clinton voters. Seems to be conflicting information about.

It is said the rust belt won him the election, and his support there would likely be due to promises to the "battlers". With unemployment being so low now, we can't definitively say whether their vote was justified or not. As the anti-Trumpers point out that unemployment followed the downward trend set in place by Obama, but we have no way of knowing whether that trend would have looked better or worse had Trump lost the election.

The RNC are traditionally the stricter party when it comes to welfare, as we hear all the hysteria of cuts to it and healthcare. Why would you believe that Joe-Dole-Bludger would vote for Trump, unless he was an unemployed manufacturing worker who actually wanted a job, not welfare?
