Was talking to someone at the club today, who said Ben was just starting to get some confidence back after bad run of injuries.
He said that Ben was probably as good a sub as we have had.
Most interestingly, he said he still had a fair bit of hope that Ben could make it back to AFL level.

Summary
It has been a long and fast fall from grace for Ben Speight, who, just two seasons ago, impressed with many eye-catching performances at AFL level, using his speed and skills to become the perfect specialist for the substitute role. However, since a shoulder injury sustained in 2011, Speight hasn't been able to scale those heights, and even spent a period of 2013 playing for Werribee's reserves. The sad reality is that Speight had lost confidence and a yard of pace, and combined with a myriad of poor performances at VFL level, was delisted from North Melbourne after five seasons, 10 games and seven goals.

I feel for Speight, just couldn't get back up after his injuries. The writing was on the wall for him when he was rookie listed and then playing games in the VFL reserves. Good luck in the future, Benny.
