My DS reference is not about his trade cost / contract length. Plenty of people had him in the "should never play for North again" basket last year, but he is coming good this year.
Stephens has been better however he has been given a leg up by how bad Tucker and Scott have been. :stern look

100% correct. Daniel will not get taller, become faster or jump higher. As an AA and Best and Fairest player he excelled with deft kicking, being part of chains and being composed to extract himself from a phone booth with pressure all around.

Clarko, Viney and Rawlings created the mess. They need to see if there is anything salvageable from this incompetence by trying him in some other role outside of defence.

It’s like a school headmaster recruited this experienced Mathematics teacher. Halfway thru the year all the students are averaging a D. Maybe switch him to Art, History or Geography and see what he can do.

Poor Hardeman, FOS, Comden and Archer having to play with this fraud each week in the backline. The guy that was meant to mentor them and lead by example.
I still think the lack of length in his kicking is his real downfall. Needs a driving iron, proceeds to use a pitching wedge.

Yep. No issue with Dylan. We needed players who could run and use the ball well enough.
I had problems with his aversion to contact and decision making, but less of an issue this year.
At worst he's a good squad of 30 player. But would like us to add another wing/hbf through the draft.

He also personally thinks 8-10 metres is 15+.
Maybe he can kick the ball further but in some weird way he thinks he’s roosting it and it’s going 30 metres at best.
Probably shows you how differently the Braves are umpired that he was able to kick the ball 8-10 metres 20 times every game he played and not once be called “not 15! Not 15!”

That rule didn't seem to impact Collingwood so much.

At least a couple of sub 10m marks were paid to them and on one occasion, in their forward pocket after a very short kick, the Collingwood player set up as if he'd marked, the umpire was silent and the north players were asking if he'd paid the mark or not - they didn't dare attempt to tackle in case he had paid it. The ump then called play on but the Collingwood player was clear and easily hit a teammate for the shot on goal.

I am pretty certain that some of the not 15 calls that went against North were wrong.
This shit has more impact on a game than pretty much anything else.

Same with the kick to LDU on the f50 arc yesterday.

Been thinking of exactly this. It's why I've not gone in 'Boots Up' in Brady's thread.

I think it's quite plausible. On face value it shouldn't be a horrible Trade, yet here we are.
Its interesting cos if we hadn't been ****ed over with the Curtis suspension we might be on five wins now, as would *. That's 10th-15th on the ladder and this trade would be viewed very differently.

As it is .... ****!

I don't engage younger people, I love my 2 year old daughter. That's the extent of my patience.

My face doesn't particularly look grumpy old man, but I most certainly am.
You're a legend with younger people.

Incredibly frustrating he missed that simple kick into the corridor during our first passage of play. Bounced back well, limited mistakes.

In Golf Major terms - Daniel after 2 rounds has scrapped in and made the cut after several issues with his short game (pun intended 🥸). He is looking forward to hitting more greens in regulation and attacking the pins that present birdie and eagle opportunities in the 3rd and 4th rounds. As long as he does not end up like IBF and his golf game after winning the British Open.

Sadly won’t get dropped; ball spent enough time in his area and a semi decent game but you can’t overcome physical limitations. Just puts added pressure on the rest of the backline for little return.

Golf can start playing with you, the moment you believe you're good, it gets harder and harder. Must keep your expectations lower than your abilities.

All the more bizarre that he’s taking kick outs given the opposition know he doesn’t have the massive roost over the defensive line in his kit bag.

How could you possibly look at dropping him after the game he had on Sunday?

Was one of our best for the whole game.

I can think of at least 5 infront of him.

Half of his disposals were kick outs. Colby is such a well more polished and quicker version of helmet

Who said Colby wasn't???

so he was in our best 6?

That means dropped.

His start to the season was awful, should have been dropped in that period.

He has been much much better over the last month. Received coaches votes on Sunday as well, as he should have.
