5AA sports show Rumour Mongering

After watching the hysterics on here regarding the crap that has been spread via rumours on 5AA I can only come to one conclusion and suggest that both Cornsey and Rowie should not give unsubstantiated rumours the time of day. It is irresponsible and especially with Cornsey stating he received this story about walker 3rd hand was pure madness. How could cornsey who wants to be credible and come accross as a schooled/intelligent individual justify his comments. All he has possible done is create unessesary friction between the Adelaide Football Club and its fans.

Rowie is another who thrives on the rumour mill with all his arguments against the Adelaide Oval proposal. It was proven he was going to air sprouting liberal propaganda that he was given by certain liberal MP's (he was too stupid to figure out what was going on mind you).

Is this a sports show or a rumour show? I have heard them shut down rumours before so what has changed in the past few months?

I can understand if their are direct leaks to the media and they go to air regarding certain issues. but to go to air with 3rd or 4th hand stories irrisponsible.

Seems plausable also that Walker may have questioned why he is on the outer while Bock has been brought back even though he is not going to be at the club next year. For me the timing also seems to support the rumour that Walker brought up the Bock issue to Craig because within a day or two Craig then began pressing Bock regarding his future. Why now rather than a few weeks ago ???

All bock has done is admit there is an offer on the table from the gold coast. thats it. thats not even close to admitting he is going. negotiations were underway from the crows point of view. so the fact he is negotiating with the crows still is a sign he may stay.

Maybe take your head out of the sand, on www.afl.com.au they have already announced that Bock has come to an agreement with the crows yesterday to stand down for the final two games and will be joining the Gold Coast next year.

The deal was done ages ago hence why the rumour with Walker being livid with craig regarding players that want to be part of the club being left out to play someone who didnt seems to now seem very possible and potentially the catalyst behind the club confronting Bock about the issue.

That's exactly right.

As a reader on here, you just need to keep your wits about you and take rumours for what they are until you can establish some level of confidence in them. Lots are false, but similarly many are probably accurate, even though the burden of proof needed at times to go via regular media streams isn't there.

The apparent major beef 5AA have with these sites wrt rumours is the anonymity of us posters .... yet Ralph is a ficticious name they use to hide their source(s), who in fact has taken some of his rumours of this very site.

Look at the end of the day he may decide to go. But that doesnt change the fact its still a rumour as he has yet to sign a deal.

Guy McKenna said in an interview with Cornsey and Rowie that they are not allowed to have discussions with players untill the end of the season. They had a window and its closed. end of story. if Bock didnt sign then he can not discuss a contract untill the season is finished. it is AFL rules. The season had to run its course that was one of the biggest sticking points to the gold coasts concessions.

Gold Coast 'aren't allowed to approach players before the end of the year'. Then why has Bock had the offer for so long? - see the thread I bumped. Gold Coast were sounding people out last year.

Do you believe Chris Judd wasn't hunted by Carlton during the regular season the year before he left? Cripes half the Melbourne teams were in touch with his management on a weekly basis.

Its amazing how often we have various blokes on 5AA and elsewhere come out with things that have so obviously been sourced from BF forums.

and yet they bag the forums as a whole (rather than distinguishing between the wheat & the chaff)

even worse, are their comments about us hiding behind our anonymity on here, yet they freely espouse rumours without naming sources... (even if its a BF source )

and then you have Cornes getting on his high horse and refusing to accept email comments using "hotmail/gmail" addresses.......

I would bet my house that if we selected a group of representatives from BF and matched them up against 5AA's etc footy "experts", that our (BF) knowledge of all aspects of the game would far exceed theirs.
