Warne ahead of Ponting, good grief!

I was very sad about his passing but he was a poor commentator on Nine and Fox (and was heavily criticised here) because he would constantly repeat a point over and over.

Vaughan ahead of Atherton also very questionable. The producers on Fox Cricket must have voted multiple times.

It was the same effect with Slats back in the day. Channel 9 Slats was borderline unbearable, any other telecast was quality. He did the 2015 would cup and was a completely different character.
Slats was okay with 7 too wasn’t he? I remember he called the very first BBL game on 7 & was fine with the test cricket

Looking forward to a summer of compliants from the bigfooty cohort about commentators from both networks!

and all probably deserved!

I thank god that it isnt as bad as the ch9 mark nicholls days.
He was unbearable. He was beyond obsessed with reverse swing because he discovered it (for himself) during the 05 ashes series.

Can't have Mark Howard anywhere near that list. Cheerleader at best.

Watching Howard's absolute suck job of an interview of Alex Carey. FFS, tone it down mate. You can compliment a player without being the head of the cheer squad.
I can’t understand why the head of sports at either broadcaster isn’t sitting the commentary team down, propping their eyelids open Clockwork Orange-style and forcing them to watch hour upon hour of Benaud, Lawry, Greig and co.

I suspect the opposite is true and that the style and tone of the commentary and presentation is as per instruction from above.

Skull is too high, ditto Gilly. Athers and Nasser are way too low but many of those who voted might not watch much of the English summer of cricket. I'd have Chappelli higher, however I understand why he wasn't everybody's cup of tea.

Is Warner the worst full-time commentator we’ve had to endure in Australia? I’d almost prefer when they have the Prime Minister on each year during the Boxing Day or Sydney test.
Honestly don’t mind Warner too much.

He’s still pretty Ruff Round Da Edges but some of his actual content isn’t bad

The amount of times Julian and Hussey called Joel Davies Ollie Davies and Luke Wood Mark Wood, would be over 10 I reckon

Broad is back for 7, so I assume we probably won’t see Bumble in commentary on 7.

I don’t know about Fox but I think this series 7 has used the availability of having other international commentators (Botham, Swann, Tufnell etc) in their coverage for lunch or tea breaks so we might still see Bumble on 7
