Cripps is a absolute gun, interesting that Clem Smith and Brad Walsh both played in the same W.A. State side as bottom age players 2 years ago

Cmonnn Crippa, love the contested ball he wins but needs to now cement a spot!

When I did my best 22 a few weeks back, Patrick wasn't there but I'll have to reevaluate that now. Has has a fantastic preseason and has just about bashed the door down for senior selection. He's an absolute certainty to feature against Richmond in round 1 and will play plenty of senior football this year.

He was superb yesterday against Geelong and I had him easily BOG on the day.

Speed and fitness are both things he'll need to continue to work on, but he has a brilliant football brain which enables him to have an impact and a genuine presence all over the park.

Yesterday he was in everything and playing a number of roles - we saw him in and under the packs doing the grunt work, outside the packs providing a link between defense and offense, and pushing forward to provide a target inside 50.

Very exciting young footballer who isn't flashy but catches the eye very easily regardless. Of course he's not the finished product and has a long way to go yet but his development is on a very steep upward curve and it'll be very exciting to see how far he can go at senior level.

Yeah he's never going to be quick, but once he's 22-23 he'll be strong as an ox which will more than offset it. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, so as long as he knows where to be and when to go there, he'll be right.
Yeah agreed. Just needs to be smart with his positioning I think. There were a couple of Geelong midfielders that ran around him like he was a witches hat when they had a fast break. While the lunging tackle attempt looked spectacular, I'd prefer he didn't need to resort to it :p

To be honest i think his agility and speed will improve once he's been in the system 4-5 years. It's something he'll definitely need to work hard on though, as he's not a wiry tall mid like Fyfe where it all comes naturally.

The only negative to come out of yesterday for me was that he's a bit on the slower side. Not a big problem in itself as long as he manages that well.

Plenty of guns in the modern game who excel without leg speed.....Watson, Mitchell & Kennedy just to name a few

Not doubting that at all. Just saying he needs to be smart about what he does to negate his lack of speed, like the players you suggested do.

That's fair.
From what we saw on Sunday against a full strength Geelong midfield is that he is pretty smart and plays to his strengths.
Cannot wait to see what he dishes up on Thursday week.

Other than the obvious things, what I really love about Paddy is he's already shown (over the past year or more) tremendous ability and will power to push through pain and exhaustion to have an impact on the game.

It says a lot about his mental side of the game and his grit.

In that regard he reminds me of one Chris Judd, and if his off-field professionalism and training mirrors the Great Man, Paddy will go very far indeed, because he certainly can play football and he's going to be extremely physically imposing.

A very good observation & this was first demonstrated in the Northern Blues first game last season when, after looking absolutely gone midway through the third quarter, Cripps pushed on & was the key player in setting up victory in the last quarter.

He is one player who you know won't leave anything out on the field.

Was sitting near the interchange bench on Sunday and this is so true. Well into the second half when Cripps came off for a break he looked exhausted. Not too many 19 year olds would have the ability to push through that.

The kid seems to have a really good attitude. He will leave no stone unturned to get the best out of himself.
