That is virtually the same as the Taggart disallowed one, which should have been a goal.
How bad is that technology :drunk:? Firstly the line isn't even in line with the last defender and secondly its not even straight. Look at the distance between it and the 18 yd box at either side.

Despite the VAR problems, that was a good first round. Every team scored a goal, every game was a good contest and every game seemed to have a decent crowd and atmosphere. Looking forward to next week already.

And that's where it's all wrong. No one should benefit at any point really. VAR is supposed to help get rid of the howlers. It's not doing that all.

The intent to get rid of the howlers has been lost in the convoluted process to review and share information with the ref.

Playing video footage back on to a small screen doesn't always allow them to make the best decision.

If I was looking to establish rules for the VAR it would be:
- Decisions are made by the bunker (eg confirmed or changed) and relayed back to ref - speeds up the stoppages, and removes the "ass covering" elements or sticking to the original decision
- Apply as much technology as possible for faster results. The goal line tech in the EPL is just a buzzer on the refs wrist when the ball crosses the line. No need to check the video.
- Need undisputable video evidence to overturn the on field decision (like the NFL)
