I was at Montsalvat with my daughter tonight. A documentary about a family friend was being screened. Five minutes before it began a hand grabbed my shoulder. When I turned, a man who looked familiar was beaming down at me. He shook my hand and said " how do you think we'll go on Sunday?"

I was a little off balance and said "I know your face!"

He replied, " Jamie Turner" and I then stood and placed my arm around him and began informing my daughter that she was in the presence of a premiership hero.

He said he was a guest of the Woodsman this Sunday and was very worried about the Giants. I concurred.

We reminisced about the Chris Lewis knee to his ribs on the three quarter time siren in the drawn second semi. He winced and smiled, saying he remembered the incident.

The documentary was brilliant too.
Oh , I was wearing my old Collingwood cap!

Go pies!

MontSalvat is a stunning location. Turner would probably be one of the most oft-forgotten from that 1990 side. Such a versatile player.

Arguably that 1990 side contained quite a few signs of where football was headed.

A defence first game-plan. A non-ruck such as Manson doing enough to be competitive. A non KPF forward line featuring Gavin Brown and Daics (kicking 97 that year).

Loved that side.

I made up for his low public profile with lots of gushing compliments and thanks for the gift of 1990.

Domie, you've given him the recognition that he was missing for all those years....

Jamie Turner is and was oft forgotten.
So much so his nickname at the club was Nobody.
Sorry mate I think you’ll find it was Nerky.
As in who is this bloke?
Don’t know - Fred Nerk.

That knee in the ribs is an act of bastardry I’ve never forgotten.
