The funny it about it was that I used to like the Saints as two of my best mates were passionate supporters when you were crap. We used to pension our players off to you so we could still watch them run around albeit them being less effective that they no longer donned the navy blue jumper.
For me I break it down to 3 key points.
1. Securing Hamill (possibly a bit hypocritical with our track record of grabbing other clubs stars).
2. Rubbing it in that you cashed in on the No.1 draft pick (Goddard) when our first 2 draft picks for 2002 National Draft where removed. Okay we had to take our medicine but to carry on like school kids over it was really rubbing salt in the wounds.
3. Your supporters carrying on like your side is the greatest thing since sliced bread since you have been flogging us since 2002. Whilst we havent gotten within a bulls roar of you in this period you have been sticking it to us as being world beaters but at the same time under achieving (maybe choking in the finals). Your history isnt too flash with 1 flag and 26 wooden spoons and you have teh nerve to mention the wooden spoon to us???
When we were flogging the saints in our halycon days from memory we didnt stick it to your supporters like you do to us nowadays.
What I find amusing is that when we were a gun side we at least won flags whereas your mob has failed at this task miserably with a gun list - Massive underachievers!
PS; I couldn't and still don't stomach Grant Thomas.

I'd say it's because their supporters have been so bitter and jealous of the powerful clubs such as Carlton for so many years, that now the comp has evened out they are taking their turn to revel in another clubs misfortunes... especially a club such as Carlton who sat atop the ladder for so many decades and whose supporters were so arrogant for so many years.
in turn, it's turned many carlton supporters against this "new breed" of saints fans.. just my take on things anyway.

I don't mind the saints, it's knobs like jeff dunne that p1ss me off, yes i know all clubs have got them but this guy is the biggest TOOL on bigfooty, seriously he has taken being a w***er to a whole new level, apart from people like that you guys are alright, until saturday comes along then you guys will be the scum of the earth for 3 hours then i will be alright again after that, especially if we win...

I hate the Saints because they are under-achieving losers and their supporters continually talk them up. One premiership in 500 years and 400 odd wooden spoons and to top it all off, their captain Daryl Baldbloke, gets pictured in a Collingwood jumper holding the cup aloft. HA HA

I don't hate the sainters either .The post from Borrisy was mostly accurate but the thing thing that really shat me off was the year of our 1st wooden spoon and your supporters rocked up to princes park waving wooden spoons all around the place .
I've never been one to sink the boot into the saints when they're down nor have i known another Blues supporter who has but to put up with some of the shit we've had to endure over recent seasons , I can fully understand why this could change in the future .

i have nothing against the saints... they are my 2nd favourite team.
but it does shit me to tears when ur supporters try to hang it on us, when you have arguably the worst history of any clubs.
allthough every team's supporters seem to be having a crack at us, even though there is nearly always a comeback for every teams insults towards us.
opposition supporters seem to be able to conveniently loose all knowledge of AFL history when hanging it on Calrlton....
but it does shit me to tears when ur supporters try to hang it on us, when you have arguably the worst history of any clubs.

probably a bit harsh mate.... i seem to remember us in a fairly similar situation that we didnt exactly get out of by ourselves...
The all time afl/vfl ladder has them above only university and brisbane bears in a 19 team ladder with a 38.23 winning percentage .

For mine it's been the thrashings over the last half decade and the smugness with which my Saints supporting friends have dished out cr@p to us about wooden spoons despite the Saints having more wooden spoon shame than any other club.
Growing up I never disliked the Saints, they were quite the minnow in the competition (apart from Fitzroy) and seemed to often lose good players to other teams (Sydney ahem ahem). I just really want to get some pride back and dish out a 100 point victory over them someday soon...
I am sick of us copping them from the Saints each year.
Remember too, even our spectacular 1995 season we lost to Saints and Sydney (as I recall)... I still haven't got over that marring the perfect season
Maybe the Cats will come to feel the same way about the Doggies!
During the 90's, due to my girlfriend at the time being a Sainter, I used to back the Aints in every game except those against the Blues.
However, with the uber feral behaviour of some of the Saints fans during and after the 1996 (i think) Wizard Cup, I began for the first time to question my soft spot.
The real determiner for mine was Aaron Hamill. Sammy was my out and out favourite at the time and when the Aints nabbed him, they became close to most hated club on my list. As a measure of my dislike... during the Thomas years, I would have barracked for the Pies over the Aints in a Grand Final.

I cannot stand the chardonnay swilling suckjobs who discovered footy once St Kilda found a sniff of success.
But I can put up with that, its not like ANY supporters from other clubs are bearable.
My main issue with St Kilda is Queen Tryhard Firegirl.
A bigger sanctimonious blowhard waste of space I have never encountered.
Also incredibly boring.
Jeff Dunne is more interesting. While he still haunts Carlton threads and bags us unmercifully, he can be fair and reasonable at times. I rarely agree with him, but I can respect his opinion.
