im just sitting at the comp, reading all the threads on the Collingwood board at the moment....started me on thinking about all the players who have played for the Pies in recent history who havent quite made it
i put pen to paper and came up with a side...and plenty left over
im not counting current players, or players who were on the list but never played a game
i stress i was really bored at the time
here it is:

B: Paul Sharkey Jon Ballantyne Luke Godden
HB: Andrew Pugsley Simon Hawking Jason Wild
C: James Wasley Chad Liddell Jon Hassal
HF: Jason Taylor Damian Houlihan Andrew Ukovic
F: Bradley Plain Shannon Gibson Frankie Raso
R: Brad Smith Chris Curran Kent Butcher
I: Danny Roach Michael Gardiner Dale Baynes Stephen Ryan

also considered (mostly after i had made the above team) were:
Darren Saunders Ben Wilson, Mark Orchard, Stuart Mangin, Justin Staritski, Troy Lehmann, Matthew Francis Brad Fuller, Craig Jacotine, Nick Hider, Robert Schaeffer, Trent Hotton, John Barnett, Clinton King, Marty Warry, Scott Crow

i didnt consider Lee Walker, Jonathan Ross, Mark Kinnear or Tyson Lane for some reason or another

if i under/over estimated anyone, im sorry, if i forgot anyone just add their name
im not really expecting anyone to reply to this anyway, its a rather negative attitude towards the club at this point in their season
oh well, it was all for a bit of fun

cheers

I still can't believe Collingwood drafted some of those duds. Most of them I don't remember, but the ones I do, still give me nightmares.

It's a shame about, Lee Walker, he looked like a promising young player with the Pies. Shame about those dodgey knees, a real shame such a talented young bloke to be cut down by injuries. I really hope Davo doesn't end up like that.

dont care that he came 2nd in the copeland and somehow received a lap of honor on retirement but where the hell is stephen patterson.
just typing his name gives me the shyts.
cant remeber what the name of the medal that a 2nd placing in the copeland gives you but patterson is the worst player to ever receive it.

I used to lap up Brad Fuller - his 3 goals on Anzac Day in '98 were great.

I think the really dissapointing ones (one's that looked the goods) would have to be:

Brad Fuller
Andrew Pugsley (very solid debut V's Rich)
Craig Jacotine (still think we should've kept him)
Jonny Ballentyne (super FB but his knee injury ruined him).

That Michael Gardiner looked ok as well, and Chrissy Curran was a very handy player, too.

Ah the memories...

Jason wild showed me the true meaning of a dud. Tony shaw giving him his number, just goes to show what a great judge of talent he was.

yeah stephen patterson never really was any good but he played for a few years and contributed a bit, so i didnt consider him but fair enough
jonny ballantyne was cut down by that knee injury
brad fuller never really produced anything substantial

yeh i was a fan of chris curran, it cut a bit to name him here but oh well

And people say Malthouse left the West Coast cupboard bare........look what Matthews and Shaw left us!!!!
