Are we thinking Annabelle will make All Australian next year or will it take a couple of years. ?
I am guessing that this means we won’t match a bid on Prindable, Waller etc if it means we have to use points from next year. Not that I am expecting there will be an early bid. Happy to grab them both for late picks though.Conole answering Twomey about Murray in next year’s draft, words to the effect of “he’s certainly in the discussion to be part of the top group”.
Rortastic.
Matching bids after pick 36 are “free”, only requires you to use your next pick, no points.I am guessing that this means we won’t match a bid on Prindable, Waller etc if it means we have to use points from next year. What no Coleman????I'm going to assume no player has ever won the Brownlow, Rising Star, & Norm Smith in the same year before....
If we do another late WA midfielder special, my guess is Sam Swadling. But I don't think we will while Tunstill and Torrent are both still here. There’s only one player I’ve got my eye on with our second pick. He’s from WA, incredibly underrated, and in my opinion, an absolute gun. I won’t name names just yet, but let’s just say I’ll be quietly fist-pumping if he’s still on the board when our turn comes around.
Being a free hit after pick 36 is one benefit when that first-round ends at a high number. Will it be higher than last year.Matching bids after pick 36 are “free”, only requires you to use your next pick, no points.
However, by the time any such bids are made, we’ll probably have two picks in the 40’s as so many second round picks get eaten up matching bids for other teams.

Sadly I only recognise two of those references (Gaia (as the embodiment of nature) and Duke Nukem (from a very old video game) so if they are characters from a movie / series not even them!)Fagan is Gaia
Justin Reid is captain pollution
Caroline Wilson is Dr Blight
Adelaide Football Club is Hoggish Greedly due to their trade greediness.
Collingwood Football Club is Verminous Skumm
Geelong Football club is Sly Sludge
Hawthorn Football Club is Looten Plunder
Gold Coast Football Club is Duke Nukem.
Andrew Dillon is MAL
Prindable still being linked to Geelong & Colingwood in the Herald Sun late mail.

I agree with most of what you said, my only point is that Adelaide were offering a 2026 2nd & 3rd.Being a free hit after pick 36 is one benefit when that first-round ends at a high number. Will it be higher than last year.
In 2024 Round 1 went to pick 27. Round 2 just to 40. Round 3 to 56

On another matter i would be in the very minority on this board regarding the Ah Chee nontrade.
I had no problem with the club trying to get the best deal possible for Ah-Chee.
However, with 30 minutes to go and no ground being given by Adelaide i would have taken the bad offer from the Crows.
Something is always better than nothing. Spin it anyway you want but receive some draft picks for him.
I am sure around this time next year, some on here will be changing their mind on not having that extra 2nd round pick. Something along the lines of "would have been very handy to secure (said named? player)." "Why did we not take something"
And of course, the AFL may change the rules slightly again in 2026.
They have mentioned they want to first see what happens with the new system in 2025.
The Lions 2nd and 3rd round picks since 2021. Taken from Zero Hanger as that was the easiest one for me to read.

Its legitimately a good thing if we develop talent that goes to other clubs. Strengthens the benefits on the pathway and maybe gives us future homesick talent to get backCool, the main board can finally stop complaining that our academy doesn't contribute anything to the wider AFL.
At least that's two of us on Lions BF that would have reluctantly taken the offer of 2nd & 3rd for next year.I agree with most of what you said, my only point is that Adelaide were offering a 2026 2nd & 3rd.
I still would have taken the picks in the end.
We gave them Mabior Chol, what more do they want?Cool, the main board can finally stop complaining that our academy doesn't contribute anything to the wider AFL.
