Essendon have done well so far. Yes it's easy to do well with multiple first round picks, but Robey and Sharp were excellent value.
And probably look great in a Lions guernsey. All the great players do.
I think you were using the 2024 points values, it’s changed this year. Pick 28 is worth 505 pts. 42 + 43 = 386. Next years 3rd might be worth 14 points. So they lose over 100 pts in the deal. I can’t see that Carlton have anything to gain, unless there’s a future 2nd on offer as well.

Genuine question, but i'm envious how much better the suns academy is over ours. If we had their talent coming through, we would have been set for the next 15 years. They're also able to produce talents who cover all over the ground, whereas our elite talents are only mids with smokeys coming from the forward or defence.

They do. You can only draft as many players as you have list spots. It's why they're only going to be taking 1 more player tonight.

They've done well by not overthinking it. Last time they had a bunch of first round picks they busted them by thinking they were smarter than everyone else and trying to get clever.

Held their nerve too. Richmond would've been leaking info they were taking Robey (hence Twomey's phantom), to try and get a pick out of Essendon to move up.
Oh right. That's only before the draft starts. Once the draft starts you can trade for more draft picks, draft all the players you need to fill list spots, and then pass on your remaining picks in the draft.
