Ballenden & Payne invited to the national combine. No Clayton or Lachie Harris
Also worth noting you need four clubs to nominate you to receive an invite to the combine... so there's obviously a bit of interest in Payne, who missed the last few matches for the Allies.

On Monday's in the Herald Sun, it contains a full page of the ladder with a comment under each of the side's. It said this about the Lions:

"Witherden might just be the best of their midfield kids although McCluggage continues to develop. Their academy has at least two more guns in the next two years, so in three to four years, look out."

In reference to the bolded, they're obviously referring to Ballenden this year (or next year), but who is this second "gun" they're referring?

Seen mention of Kobe Tozer on the u15/16 thread, he was one of the stand out top 10 performance in the under 16 comp.
The relevant part was

Kobe Tozer
Queensland
HT: 194cm
WT: 83kg
DOB: 1/3/01

Strong marking, athletic tall forward who consistently presented to the ball carrier. Tozer averaged 16 disposals, six marks and three goals per game in the Championships. Stamped himself as his team's focal point in Queensland's final match with a 20-touch, nine-mark and five-goal game against Northern Territory. Part of the Brisbane Lions academy.

We are going to be stacked with talls for the next decade at least. Be nice to get some genuine top end midfield talent from the academy.

Might have to look to father sons for mids TheBrownDog

James Rendell, Jake Bradshaw, Lachlan Johnson, Lachlan Harris, Casey Voss and Nick Blakey at Bisbane Lions Academy training.

Lions continue to monitor father-son prospect
The Brisbane Lions again look set to be important players early at this year's NAB AFL Draft, currently holding pick No.1, No.14 (tied to Port Adelaide's finishing position) and No.18 (the first pick of the second round).

Connor Ballenden's inconsistent form this season could pose an interesting situation for the club at draft time, with the Lions having first call on the academy product. The Queenslander started the season viewed by scouts as a contender for the No.1 pick but was moved to defence late in the Allies' under-18 carnival to find form.

Conole said the 199cm prospect will be keen to hit his straps in the last part of the season. "He's had a lot to balance and probably that continuity for him has been challenging at times. He's played some good footy and played different roles, but he's another one who would want to come home with some consistency," he said. "He's got some strong traits to play at the next level and I'm sure he'll progress through."

Ballenden is one of just three Queenslanders who were invited to the national combine in October, alongside defender Jack Payne (also in the Lions' academy) and ruckman Brayden Crossley (Gold Coast academy).

Conole makes a very strong point in the draft podcast about how he likes the draft age as when the kids are in year 12 their lives are filled with structure which helps with their football. It really goes to show taking kids out of a structured environment likely effects their draft year. Would explain why some of our kids have stood out big time in their grade 12 year but fallen in their draft year. I forget who first said this on our board, but I am buying into it more and more.

I wonder if there is this is what the club thinks, and if so, if there is more we can do, I.E partner with some sort of educational program (like Blacks academy) or work force assistance - essentially something to keep a real routine in their lives.

Managed to see all three under 16 games through a family connection with a Gold Coast player . Agree Tozer was the pick of the Lions Academy though Jeffery could take a mark also. The most dominant one was Wischart who is from the Sunshine Coast hinterland but doesn't belong to any academy. Mosleley looks looks a good intercept defender while Clayton, Griffiths , Martyn are decent half back mids. Reville who won a Troy Clarke scholarship has a bit of X factor about him.

Where is it and what time?
Sorry, missed your post. Game was on Saturday, at Carey. APS won by 38. Lachie Harris 29 disposals and 6 marks. Andrew Bradshaw 31, 8 tackles and a goal. Max King the standout forward with 5 goals. Tipped to go very early in next year's draft. 200+cm.

I swear someone's just out there cloning 200cm+ kids named M. King. Any chance he'll get drafted by the Demons?

Caught a very brief bit of vision of Jake Bradshaw on Future Stars. Is a left foot, inside mid and has shown a bit of form for the Bushrangers this year as a 17 year old.
