I thought this guy was just a player who could tackle well, but he seems to have really come of age over the past few weeks and seems to be becoming more of a ball winner as opposed to a negating style player. Played well today, if he could get his disposal right he could become a very very handy player in your midfield rotation.

Which is why the brains trust have stuck with him and given him every opportunity to begin to realize his potential.

can we still fit hadley in given benticks recent form?
Yes for sure Hadley will fit can fill a number of roles, iRatten had to change Benticks role today because of decision making and disposal early and gave him a more of a run with role which is more his go and faired better with that role.

i thought he played well didnt know he was such a good player knew he was a good player but he just ripped richmond apart in the second half of the game

I didn't think i would be saying this at the start of the year but maybe not. AB has improved in leaps and bounds the last couple of weeks.

Plays very much in the Brett Ratten mould, and would be flourishing playing for him. Has really gone up a level, and to be truthful, I really didn't think he had it in him.

You should have just asked me, HBF. I would have told you he was capable of what he has demonstrated for much of this season. He will never have the silky skills of a Gibbs, the quick hands of a Williams or the speed of an Armfield, but he will always be putting his body on the line & winning plenty of in & under contests, allowing our class midfielders to deliver the ball inside our forward 50.

There have been some posters constantly 'bagging' AB when it has not been deserved (I'm not referring to you, HBF), so it is really pleasing to see him displaying more & more of what he is capable of.

Bentick has definitely improved since Judd came along, which just adds more to Judd's worth to this club, much to the chagrin of those drug-addict losers in Western Australia in denial that they lost him and he's no good anymore!

Full credit to Bentick for putting great form together. Without seeming too cynical, I would say half the reason for his dedication on the field lies in the recruitment on one Richard Hadley. Despite Richard being out injured, you can never underestimate the incentive of having a second capable player who has been recruited to play a similar role. Right now, Bentick is putting his head down so he can retain his spot - he also knows a top flight Hadley could potentially displace him in the team!

All great for the Carlton FC. Not only do we have some real talent coming through, we are also getting competition for some spots. 2010-2012 is looking really good!

AB definitely *was* good, and has put more good games up than bad ones in the seniors this year.

He definitely had to improve though, and I think his time in the 2s was justified. Tackling and clearing is vital, but he needs to bring more than just that to the table to cut it in the AFL. I'm as pleased as anyone that he's playing good footy - I have nothing against him at all.

He is still, however, in a group with Hoops, Carrazzo, Cloke and a few others who will need to improve for find themselves really struggling to get a game in ~2 years. And that's a positive thing.

Getting the pill is one thing, disposing of it is quite another. The style of football these days, the second is almost more important than the first.

Very good well balanced post, In agreeance, Hadley's injury provided opportunity and he has taken it which is exactly why we are getting better because we now have genuine competition for spots in the team,:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Be saying for ages and started a thread about him after the freo game stating that he has to stay in this side. The start of the year the majority of BF posters wanted him and when he finally got his chance he has been super.

Everyteam needs a player that will get in and under and feed it out to the running ball carries...love his effort and think he has the most suitable number on his back ;)

Yeh, every team needs in and unders, but if their disposal is sh!t then their effectiveness is drammatically limited.

For an extreme example, check out Jobe Watson at Essendon. This guy gets his hands on the ball first more than just about anyone in the league. However his disposal is SO lousy that the opposition zones off him and lets him get it 35 times a game. Why? Cos they'd rather he had it than Lovett or Stanton or Nash or basically anyone else.

Bentick isn't that bad, but he's not good. He needs to work doubley-hard in the guts, cos he's not and never will be quick, nor a particularly long, creative or damaging kick. Teams can carry at most one player of this type.

ive been saying for a while, hes the most underrated at our club... by our supporters
supporters from other teams can see how good he is (especially after they play us), yet for some reason our are all of the opinion "hes ok, but hadley this hadley that he wont have a spot when blablabla"
hadley will not take benticks spot if he somehow sorts out his body (which, lets be honest, at this stage doesnt look likely)
/b]no chance in hell[/b]

hes had one bad game this year, i dont know what he has to do for CARLTON supporters to rate him, hadley has everyone under a spell

I've always loved Bentick.

Certainly needed at the club.

I'd prefer Bentick over Hadley any day. Although I do hope Hadley comes back into the team, just not at the expense of Bentick.

Tuck was actually tagging him at one stage

speaks volumes

that reminds me of the passage of play that caused Tuck to chase Bentick on the wing!!!

how bloody slow is Tuck if he couldnt catch Bentick!!
