Yeah he'll be in a big hurry to get away from a contending team in his home town with a premiership on offer for the next few years in a team with an excellent list and great depth to boot.

its all about the “optics” of it they’ll say.. “matt isnt worth a high first round pick”.. “it isnt fair on the clubs with picks just after the crows”, blah, blah, blah.

The hatred of the crows goes back to the state of origin and they have always seen us as the SA state team.

the whole system is a joke and is run based on what the Victorians/VFL want.

There's no Crows hated, that's a furphy. I agree there's definitely a pro Vic slant to the league, but there's no hidden agenda against SA.

Most of our problems are through our own doing.

West Coast are one of the most successful teams in the AFL era and have proven that you can beat the system if you're good enough and smart enough.

The problem for us is that we're neither good or smart enough and a lot of our failures are via our own doing.

Rather than accept that we've been mediocre we like to blame mythical boogy men for our failures.

I'd even go as far as argue that the SANFL have hindered the club far more than the AFL ever have.

Exactly. How does the AFL actively target us? The MCG Grand Final agreement?

There's been a few things that coincidentally have affected us like NGA changes. And some things that are just inherent to the competition like having 10 Victorian teams means more opportunities for players in that state.

But the SANFL do everything they can to stop us being successful in that competition which directly hinders our development. Sucking up our money then delivering us bullshit player rules, unable to play the medical sub in the SANFL, no home games, horrendous umpiring, etc

To be fair, we're getting a lot of games into the kids that have had 20 AFL games or less.

The regualrs include:
  • Schoenberg
  • Hamil
  • Mcpherson
  • Berry
  • Rowe
  • McHenry
  • Butts
  • Sholl
  • Jones
  • TT
Chuck in the older rookies (Fog/McAdam/Himel/Frampton) and it's looking pretty good.
 
Most of our selections have been fine

It's just those handful of noodle scratchers that frustrate

Mackay ahead of a tall young defender
Four talls up forward in order to have a 2nd ruck option for 6 minutes

Needless, self inflicted damage.

We're not in a position where we can develop by getting most of the decisions right. Need to hold ourselves to a higher standard

The 2 that stand out to me are Lynch and Borlase. Lynch should be in real trouble, totally useless these days. Borlase is a free spot unless we've got another cat B in mind. Tex would probably want a good month, his last few weeks have shown his body is shot.

Of course he makes any side better but with the benefit of hindsight we can see how close a number of our guys were to falling off the cliff performance wise and that camp..it would have been a bad to have a guy earning well over a million a year in a rebuilding side when his best years would then be wasted

We're still paying for the Tippett saga, GC concessions were brought In just as we were looking like pick 2 or 3, and so on
