Not sure which clubs have used player agents as list managers but the 2 I know of were in bottom 4 this year.
I’m Ned Guy is the most notable.;
I just don’t be Have reasi

I cod vvbis a ability yet

Most important lesson from the grand final today is when you draft good players, you absolutely MUST back them in at AFL level

Even if it means turfing senior players to the reserves. If your recruiting team says a player is good, uses a good pick on them, that must take precedent over experience and tenure

Jackson
Bowey
Pickett
Rivers
Sparrow

No messing around giving Pickett year after year in the twos to teach him how to defend, or telling Jackson to kick bags before a call up. Nope. They're just in the side. Bowey gets the call up in round 20 after being on the list for one year? No problem, you're playing all the finals son

Melbourne took 11 players in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the draft since 2017. 9 of them played in the grand final, with only two guys from the latest draft missing. That's every single first and second round pick from three consecutive drafts playing in the team.

It didn't ******* matter that they had Nathan Jones, Neville Jetta, Jayden Hunt or Jake Melksham on their list. Or Mitch Brown, or Majak Daw, or Aaron Vandenberg or several other long career battlers.

Their recruiters said they picked talented players. They played those players as a priority. Now they have a flag
Add Jordan, Petty, Spargo

Burgess done a massive job with there fitness program.

He has, but they've still got to be good players to start with.

What a good fitness guy does is give the players the tools to be better for longer. He won't immediately turn things around, but with the age profile of our list it'll work faster.

Very jealous, sitting here wondering when we will win our next premiership....the common theme of all winning premiership teams for god knows how long is they all have 1 or 2 elite midfielders that can turn the game on its head in crunch moments...when will we draft such a player or players...sigh
True that..but last night the dogs own elite mids..bont, mcrea, smith etc were powerless to do anything when melbourne really put the foot down.

1st Draft elite mids. Oliver Petracca Brayshaw Salem
2nd Trade in KPD Lever May
3rd draft x factor Jackson Pickett
4th trade and draft the gaps Brown Langdon etc

Hawthorn
Very similar process.
Drafted Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis, Brown
Traded in Gibson, Lake, Frawley as KPD
Drafted Franklin and Cyril as x factor
Traded in Gunston Burgouyne etc

Need the goal kicking mid and then some x factor

Kysaiah Pickett ??

What amazed me was how Jackson and Kozzie finished the season.
Young guys running on top of the ground when often they are cooked.
Jackson leaping hadnt suffered after a full season and I know they've had an easier month but many of our guys look so cooked half way through the season.

Getting close to 3/4 time yesterday pickett had 2 disposals to his name and weightman 3. Neither x factor small forward had any impact on the game
There was 1 play where pickett chased and put pressure on early and force a turnover which Melbourne goaled. No stat but like when Cyril was playing wb defence felt pressure and rushed

Small forwards don't generally have massive impacts in GFs.

Players like Trac and Martin win you Grand Finals.

Melbourne don’t win that game last night without Oliver and Petracca.

We are doing the right thing with our rebuild. It’s the only way to go in modern footy.
Actually I disagree to a point
We are yet to use a very high pick on a mid.
We went TT and McAsey with our very highest picks Compared to WB, Melbourne going for mids in Oliver Petracca Brayshaw, Bont Macrae with top 5 picks

Agree hence why I have said since Gallucci we need to draft forward mid and ideally bigger bodied ones until we get a match winner.

X factor guys like pickett and Cyril can provide sparks.
Hollands could have been the guy last year until doing his knee

Yeah, this is where I think its so important that we maintain our pick 4, identify the best power, goal kicking midfielder available and grab him. Don’t fluff around hoping he’ll drop, there looks to be a couple available this year, get it done, the rest is secondary.

And Pedlar maybe our man but it a bit early to tell so in the meantime load up on them

Schoenberg Pedlar, Berry, McHenry, Keays could turn into a very good goal kicking midfield.
Adding an elite polished mid could see a rapid improvement especially if Burgess arrives

You left out Trengove, Hogan Watts, Toumpas, Gysberts, Tapscott.

It's not like a magic formula where you get some early picks then move up. And it might take more than 4 early picks to get 4 elite mids
