what do you's think Adelaide should go for in the draft or trade week. Should they go for a Michael Gardiner type player or maybe stick with what we got.

hudson
Jonathon Griffin
Ivan Maric
John Meesen

Cripes!! I nearly fell over when I saw this thread and who it had been started by.

No recollection of starting it at all.

Amnesia, excessive alcohol, dimentia??

But it wasn't me after all!! :p

No quick fixes needed for our rucks. Mx2 time has come.

Priority should be KPP's, inside midfielders & pacy forward goal-sneak.

Doc Clarke summed it up beautifully, "we recruited Maric and Meesen with a view to them becoming AFL ruckmen, let not waste the opportunity to use them".

As much as people might not agree, I personally think the time for us to do what we can to get a flag has now passed, time now to look forward and not hold the future back chasing a flag that I believe we now cant win for a while.

We dont want another fergus watts who leaves to get a better go somewhere else. Lets at least give these 2 guys a real chance and if they decide to go back to vic as long as they get the opportunity that they deserve at least we have tried to keep them here.

WTF??????

sometimes I wonder if some of our supporters would rather be at the bottom, building on a promise of the future (and inevitably not making it) and not contending most years.

year in, year out, we're a strong club, contending regularly, and that's not enough?

F me. what would so many other clubs give to be in our position, and you want to give it up?

Wouldn't mind chasing Mark Seaby.

Seaby's a good player, but there is nothing to suggest that Maric and/or Meesen won't be better in the long run.

We've got 4 rucks on our list, that's enough. We should be targetting key forwards and midfielders.

I think we will draft a reasonably mature backup ruckman onto our rookie list, as insurance.

But imagine the draft picks we'd get !

I'd like to get Fosdyke, Seaby, and Polak to the club......for not much....

In other words ....... I'm happy to trade but not at the expense of losing quality draft picks.

Our ruck stocks are fine.....we will have 5 on the list in 2008.

AS for the draft.

2 x KPP
2 x paciest mids available.....(we can teach them to kick and catch later if need be).

we need talls that can mark......and smalls with pace.

I'd be happy to get Seaby to the club - more with a view to developing him into a Key forward.

Why can't we put Griffin back onto the rookie list and then elevate him to take Biglands spot as Biglands is on the long term injury list. This effectively leaves Griffin on the list for another year of development to see how he goes without tying up a spot on the list.

Then look for an experienced ruckman in the trade / pre-season draft to back up Hudson ( 30 odd games) / Maric ( 7 games) / Meeson ( 0 games).

While I am all for development it is an emormous risk to back everything on Hudson ( untested at AFL level after his knee), Maric and Meeson.

Our midfield has thrived on getting a relatively good look at the ball via Biglands and Clarke. If they don't get as good a look in 2007 the dynamics change dramatically.

Just my thoughts!

And we've lost our mid-field coach as well.

The ability of the new mid-field coach plus Hudson and the 2M's to fill this void is going to be a big factor in the success or otherwise of the Crows in 2007.

So Macca would you be happy if we pick up Todd Viney as the midfield coach ?

With the lack of experience you have in rucks it would be 50 - 50 who would win the taps .. between the crows v st kilda

(both have reasonable teams otherwise) ... it would be interesting if either team takes on the so called september specialist KEATING (with a low draft pick) who has recently delisted from Brisbane and have him on the list for at least a year
