Adelaide's decline

Don't think the Crows at this stage should get a Priority Pick, but have a similar arrangement to Gold Coast and Darwin, in that a certain catchment area in South Australia or elsewhere should be given priority access to the Crows for a couple of years.

Also the AFL should have the Power to remove the entire board, and help ease The Crows soft cap coaching space, so they can bolster Nicks support crew.

At some point, the AFL and Gil have to step in and save the Crows from themselves.

The AFL already control the board at least until 2028.

The AFL basically control the crows board under the clubs constitution.

The members don’t get to select the board.

Thus why the current Chairman (Rob Chapman) has resided over everything that has gone wrong at the club since and including the Tippett saga - yet he survives.

the fish rots from the head...

Yep, biggest issue for a long time has been the lack of accountability first when the SANFL controlled the Crows, and now with the AFL.

The board is not accountable to members. It should be. Member control is what a real club is about. It also means that the club generally focuses on the goals that are in the interests of members, that is having footballing success.

At the moment with the AFL able to approve board members they are all too happy to sit back and let the Crows be unsuccessful. The only thing that matters is that people keep rocking up to games, and the Crows have shown that there are plenty of nuffies that will turn up regardless of the extreme levels of incompetence at the place.

The admin and board were not reviewed like the football department was, which I think is shameful.

There are so many varied investments and interests the admin side of the club has gotten itself into in recent years that have been funded by football members. These investments have had questionable results at best.

The people in the admin at the club, and the board are quite happy for things to continue as is because they get to enjoy their little fiefdom.

Ultimately it is a total lack of accountability that has led the Crows to where they are now.

On paper from top of head:

Backline: Talia Doedee Smith Laird

Mid: ROB, sloane, crouch, crouch

Fwd: Walker, Himmelberg, Fogarty

Then some good youngsters chayce, mchenry, mcadam

It is not a finals list but it shouldnt be winless.
You've named four of the six required for a backline, you've named four of the six required for a centreline, the three forwards you've named (of six required), Walker is well and truly cooked, Fogarty is giving nothing, Himmelberg is so so.

The youngsters have shown next to nothing, a lot of talk on here they may be first round busts.

So you've named nine players that look good on paper, 13 more needed to field a team. It's why we are in a massive hole

Surely Adelaide finds a way to win one game if the 2016 Bombers could win three.

I do wonder how much (if any) the shortened season, games etc this season due to COVID is affecting us and making it harder to get a win for a young inexperienced group?

Looking back on our fixtures that season, we had only won once in our first 17 games. Our other two wins were at the back end of the season against teams we had already played (and lost to) earlier in the year.

The shorter season and therefore being unable to play against a couple of the bottom teams twice makes it a lot less likely we will get a win. We have been in four out of our last five games until either 3 quarter time or deep into the final quarter, but haven’t been able to get over the line yet. This is a combination of a poor fitness program and blooding 8 debutants and rotating through 37 players on our list. I understand all clubs are under training restrictions, but that hits a lot harder on a club going through if a rebuild with a new senior coach and game plan.

Two other teams have technically gone winless after 17 rounds:

as i said, not an expert on your list and just going off the big names ive heard of.

still shouldnt be a winless team.

Bulldogs next this Sunday and Cats the following Sunday. Dogs coming off an 8 day break isnt gonna help them and Cats looking to continue form into finals. Could get brutal

It's already brutal

Looking at the playing lists at the start of the season, I'd say that Adelaide 2020 had a far better list (for that season, not factoring in future potential) on paper than any of those sides did.

I didn't expect Adelaide to be good this year (I thought they be in the 11th-14th range, but play a more exciting brand of footy than in years past), but I certainly didn't expect them to be this far off the pace, either.
