Guys just a query.

I watched Norwood (on the box) get over the line against the Eagles and the first thing that came to mind was their recovery. A fresh Centrals is a big ask next week. Can anyone clarify what facilities they have access to out of the club (Norwood that is) and if AFC would ever consider letting a SANFL club use their facilities for recovery. (I'm interstate and I don't know the setup so go easy on me).:)

Adreniline is an amazing unpredictable thing.............

it's a interesting question as our club is built onto footy park. As far as I know the SANFL clubs have there own change rooms they use for games at aami. But if a club like norwood or Westies asked to use some of our equipment, im sure the AFC would let them as we use both teams grounds to train on during pre-season for closed sessions.

as far as I know
there are 7 changerooms at AAMI
6 on the Members side

1 - AFL - Port Adelaide, SANFL finals - a team from the 1st and 3rd game
2 - AFL - pre/post-match team #1, SANFL finals - a team from the 2nd game
3 - AFL - pre/post match umpires, SANFL finals - unused
4 - AFL - umpires, SANFL finals - umpires
5 - AFL - pre/post-match team #2, SANFL finals - a team from the 2nd game
6 - AFL - the team not from Adelaide, SANFL finals - a team from the 1st and 3rd game
then there is the 7th in our actual facilities which we use

on letting teams use our facilties. They can no matter what, beginning of the day or end of the day. Our facilities of the gym and pool are a part of the gym in the new facilities. They can pay $20 per person and get in whenever they want in the hours allowed and use our facilities. Though, if they speak to the club they may get access for free. I know West got that at the beginning of the year when some arsonist tried to or actually succeeded in burning down some of their facilities at City Mazda Stadium

Cheers for the responses.

My main thought was ice baths and all the usual rehab stuff AFL clubs take for granted but on a better level, obviously the Crow facilities are top notch. I honestly don't know the level of resources the modern SANFL clubs have these days.

ice baths, interesting
I dont beleive the SANFL would allow SANFL clubs to use that of the Crows
the proposed merger between the 2 ports included allowing the magpies to use the facilities of the Power
that got thrown out so you would assume they wouldnt let someone use those facalities of the Crows
all they would have access to is what is at the adelaide fitness solutions gym
they could have the 2 lane pool and weights rooms after and before hours
as well as the cardio all day

but actually on each clubs facilities
they would have their own stuff or access to gyms through sponsorship

Souths have a pretty good gym and so do Glenelg and Woodville-West Torrens to a lesser degree
so do North apparently

I beleive West and Centrals have pretty good facilities too

Sturt's arn't the best and neither are Ports

I have no clue about Norwoods

Rubbish bins make great ice baths

I'm sure the AFC would let the SANFL finals teams use their facilities

...for a fee. They're not a charity after all.

I'm not sure what the facilities are like at West Adelaide since somone torched their brand new gym.

Insurance has replaced it all now :thumbsu:

This.

It's not the facilities that are the issue. Ice is ice. The AFL clubs don't have access to New & Improved Ice (except West Coast).

Unless we're talking hyperbaric chambers and the like.

The issue the SANFL clubs have with player recoveries is time. Tim Weatherald has to be out on PAC's front oval at 8:30am Monday morning to take his PE class. He can't spend the day icing up, getting treated, seeing physios, rubbing in various lotions and balms...

Centrals have the best facilities in the league by far, including a pool (although they also use the nearby Aquadome if they need the use of an Olympic sized swimming pool depending on the recovery/injury). I believe Woodville-West Torrens are looking at a similar set up when they upgrade their facilities.

I guess my question was more in the context of a team finishing a game at AAMI like on Sunday and having all the facilities on hand after warm down. I'd imagine a setup like this especially say for South Adelaide would be pretty convenient. I did think of the chamber but I wasn't sure if AFL clubs even have them.

Yeah, that's an excellent point.
