Australia won 82 gold and 207 medals at Manchester. However there were more medals awarded at Manchester, a lot more. 895 medals at Manchester compared to 743 at Melbourne, 282 gold compared to 245.

So with the gold medal count dropping 13% an adjusted comparison sees Australia getting 71 gold at Manchester and 84 at Melbourne. Overall the 207 Manchester medals gets adjusted 17% down to 171 compared to 221 in Melbourne. Manchester gave out 23% more bronze then Melbourne as a lot of 4th placed athletes got one, so the overall medal count goes down more then the gold medal count.

So Australia increased the gold medal win rate by about 18% and the overall medal win rate was up a massive 28%. Englands 110 medals in Melbourne was down from an adjusted 137 in Manchester or an unadjusted 165.

Of the sports dropped out Judo had 55 medals, only 5 of which went to Australia. So the removal of this sport was a big boost to Australia in the latest games. Wrestling was the other sport to go, just 21 medals with 2 to Australia. India got 6 of those 21 wrestling medals so expect it back in the next games with increased categories.

Weightlifiting also reduced its no of medals - there was one for each section (snatch and clean and jerk) and an overall medal. Now its just the overall.

no to mention how many thorpey and grant would of won
