Pick 24 and Hickey was offered.

We have four ruckman on our list. Try again.

I can understand knocking back the deal, but you're going to have a hard time convincing us it's because of the depth of Essendon's ruck stocks. 2 of the more over matched ruck contests I've seen in a long time were your round 15 and 16 clashes this year, with only Bellchambers unavailable.

Speaking of unavailable, McKernan, Giles, Bellchambers and Leuenberger have averaged less than 11 games between them over the last 4 seasons.

No he wasn't, but he was an obviously talented KPP, which Gold Coast were (and still are to be honest) lacking, and a first round pick.

Anyone that still thinks Essendon was being unreasonable in that trade is extraordinarily ill-informed.

Reality is, Gold Coast wanted to set a precedent that it's list couldn't be poached - fair enough I suppose; but Essendon certainly were very reasonable in their offer.
Gold Coast were always going to be after a top 10 pick for Caddy, considering he was pick 7. Hence why they asked for a straight swap I suppose. I don't think Hooker was seen as that talented back then, fair play to him now that he's developed into what he has.

19 + Hooker was never going to get the job done, the annoyance from other clubs etc. comes more from the asking for reconciliation / arbitration 45 mins. before the deadline, which made it appear they were trying to force Gold Coast into a deal that they didn't want.

Haha, Brisbane may now match the Luenberger FA offer because the AFL lowballed them on the compo, so Essendon gets the chance to end up in mediation with two clubs this offseason! :D
Nah, he will just stay at Brisbane. Dont think we will pursue it any further

This. I don't think Essendon will continue with this as well.

Band 4 is harsh so I can see why Brisbane would match

Yeah I dont blame them at all.
Dont think we would give up a second rounder for him though so id imagine he will remain a Lion

Is there something wrong with recognising gender diversity in our community?
Maybe you feel there is something wrong with gay people in general?
Unfortunately all clubs have bell-end supporters willing to scrape the bottom of the barrel when they are not intelligent to form a reasonable argument to back their stance. Essendon has a very active coterie group called the purple bombers who are doing a good job of promoting acceptance of sexual diversity in the community.

Well when you put it that way we should definitely bring in a bloke who averages 8.5 games a season over his career.

So the plot thickens a bit... Rumour has it St Kilda are attempting to lure Aish using pick 5...! No wonder they don't want to give it up. It isn't that they don't think it is a fair trade. They never had any intention of doing a fair trade!

How is that Essendons fault?

The blame should be aimed at the AFL for their dodgy compo system.

Wow you lot never cease to amaze
Fair trade is not 5 for Carlisle - do you actually think that? Your list manager has sold you some lines it started with we will not be involved with 3rd party clubs and expect 5 your level of expectation is ridiculous. Tell what is a 'fair trade' let's just give it all to Essendon that is fair

Doesn't effect your requirement to make the trade work.
Hickey is only fair.
Melksham pick would do the business.
Melksham for luey not a loss.
Funny st Kilda seem to be seen as being in the wrong much more than Essendon with both Carlisle and freeman.

1/ The first comment was in reply to homophobic remarks.
2/ The second comment is my opinion and is an opinion shared by many others such as Leigh Matthews, Gary Buckenara etc Even your coach rates him as evidenced by him suggesting that Carlisle is a very, very good player with 10 years of very good football in front of him etc, etc, etc who would easily be worth a first round pick. In fact the $700 k that your club is willing to pay him tells me that your club rates him. I'd take a pick between 5 and 10... That would be fair because there is no certainty that we would end up with a player of Jake's quality and the higher that number gets, the less chance we have. St Kilda have some leverage but that will disappear if he ends up in the PSD and I would rather see that happen than the club take a shit pick such as 17 (Jack Redden pick) or 24....

I didn't say it was your fault, but now that you may have to negotiate with Brisbane in order to get it done it's another chance to get to a mediation situation!
GC want two first rounders for Dixon.

What did St Kilda put up for Tom Lee?
Based on the new AFL points system (per draft pick), the equivalent of pick 61. Do you think 61 will get it done for Dixon?

I actually mean to get him into the club... Wasn't it pick 12 or somewhere around that?

So you start a thread asking for examples of Essendon being hard to deal with

You then proceed to argue that you would prefer to see Carlisle walk to the PSD (and Essendon receive nothing) then take a pick such as 17

I think you need to get back to work Adrian!

We gave up 12 for Lee and picks 24 and 43. Essentially we downgraded 12 to 24 for him and had 43 thrown in.
Would offering Carlisle and pick 23 for pick 5 be a better or worse deal?

A line in the sand needs to be drawn. In this situation, it does appear that it is St Kilda that is hard to deal with.... Sorry but pick 17 for Carlisle is getting closer but still way off the mark.
