Hi West Coasters,

As you may or may not know, I write a blog for the front page of BF.

I'm aware that much of what I do is very Vic-centric and have been trying to rectify this.

Anyway, I will be visiting the fine state of WA for a few weeks later in January and thought this would be a good opportunity to do an interview with a WA footy type.

I'm hoping you guys might have some suggestions for a West Coast player or official I could interview while I'm over.

One thing that's important to consider though is access in a short time frame. Obviously it would be great to get Nic Nat or Woosha but on such a brief lead in time its unlikely I'd get them.

So any help you have in suggesting a WCE player or coach or administraor or otherwise who would not only be interesting for the average BF punter to read about, but who could also probably be secured on shorter notice, would be excellent.

Obviously if any of you have direct links with such person, or with the club etc (I'll call their press people after New Years when work starts up again) that would be super helpful.

Feel free to suggest on this thread or PM me. Or just ignore this!

Thanks in advance,

Jamie.

(I'll be posting something like this on the Freo board too: figure I double my chances of success that way)

Best possible person. I would probably say Beau Waters.

Most likely future captain. Probably knows whats going on. Spent a whole year in the box with Worsfold when he was out with the major elbow injury. From all reports is a very team oriented person.

you clearly haven't seen waters in interview.....

yep.

that's right.

Someone like Neale Fong would be interesting to interview I would think. He would have a great insight into WA Footy & would know the Eagles players quite well.

But if you watch his speech at the 2009 Club Champion Awards you would see it differently. They were all almost crying, it's what sprung him into captaincy calculations.:thumbsu:

Either one of the WA-based recruiting staff (Trevor Woodhouse or Mick Moylan) or one of the development coaches (Gavin Bell, Justin Longmuir, Simon Eastaugh) - recruiting staff should be the least busy at this time of the year.

Some pretty shit suggestions so far in Stevens and Embley. Waters would be a good candidate, as would maybe a Josh Kennedy or the 'thanks ben' suggestion in Luke Shuey. Someone who has a current or speculative leadership position at the club.

How about Neale Daniher? Being a former player, assistant coach, head coach and now GM of Football Operations for WC, he should be able to provide a very good perspective of where the club is at, and should be able to offer thorough answers to your questions. I'd imagine he would be pretty busy, but reckon he would be a good interviewee if you could get him.

Like the Gavin Bell suggestion everyone rates him extremely highly at the club, his job last year looking after the wafl guys was outstanding.

They all had good form and he helped Wilson, Strijk and Hams adjust to AFL level quickly.

Listening to him talk he is very impressive, a very good communicator.
