Actually don't mind this.

By all accounts, there is a big gap after the top 6 draftees.

Then a group of 20 or so players of similar ability.

Pick 10 won't get us 1 of the 6, so may as well get 2 of the next group, or trade 21.
Agreed, with the way our lists have been compiled in the past we at most would be picking a player 2 spots down, eg our 9th ranked player instead of our 7th, and if we rank 6-17 as pretty even, then we might be banking on getting our 12th-15th ranked pick. Or we're planning to use it for further trades.

Hawthorn have Lake, Gibson, Stratton and Shoenmakers.
They have very very strong key defensive stocks.

Thats like saying Lyons didnt play many games for us so he must be a spud.
Or Tom Mitchell didnt get a game for Sydney so he's not worth looking at.
Not really like Tom Mitchell. He's a young, only been on a list for 2 years. Still developing.
Cheney has been 7 years on a list, can't establish himself. Yes, it's Hawthorn but he couldn't do it even before Lake arrived.
We don't need another 6' 1.25" defender unless they're a gun. I don't think he's even close to that.

I agree with most of this, but it's still in his best interests to request a trade now than play out the year to exercise FA rights. We could match any offer (I think we would if it came to that) and then if he still wants go somewhere else, he'd be the exact same position as he's in now.
Wrong. It's in Dangers best interest to hold off until next year.. Every club with salary cap space would be mad not to make an offer and not have to give up players and draft picks...
The only reason why Melbourne is jumping the gun this year is they know Danger will not nominate Melbourne next year as they aren't a glamour club

People dont get what making a list better is all about.
You're not going to get a gun to fill that spot.

You're either going to get a draftee who isnt ready, or a stop gap....most likely both.

So it comes down to whether you want Sam Shaw (proven disgusting ball user) or Luke Thompson (proven that he couldnt beat an anorexic cancer patient in a 1 on 1) or you want a guy thats actually had some small amount of success.

I like that we are looking at players with the right attitude and drive - I think we should wait until we see these guys play in our team in our structures before we pot them as spuds.

As a club we need to get better at handling re-signings around FA ... no-one is saying Dangerfield is leaving or looking to leave, and yet the conjecture is always there until he signs.

There was a quote from Danger around the time Tippett was going through this:

http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-new...ts-tippett-to-stay-a-crow-20120528-1zdzw.html

But the on-field surge also created heightened interest in his future - speculation Dangerfield wanted to quash.

"Obviously the last three weeks, it has intensified quite a bit," he said.

"The speculation that it creates, and I suppose the hype that it generates, eventually it's going to become a negative on the group.

"To get it out of the way, and for the club just to be able to focus on winning games of footy rather than fielding questions about players' contracts, I think that is a better thing for the club."

Some whispers about Dylan Shiel of GWS on the move.

I have an idea he has some kind of Adelaide connection - girlfriend maybe ???

Could he be our GWS mystery man?
Wow that would be amazing.
Just the outside run we've been looking for.
Class player, left footer...would be a great addition.

they can't all nominate the Crows, how will we accommodate trades for all of them. Hindsight, perhaps GWS should've used some of those picks on established stars like the AFL wanted.

Very interesting to read that and wonder how he thinks of that now, he is putting us in the same boat as he stated players should not be doing, that cant be a good sign if that's how strong he used to feel about it.

Yeah, I get that he's maybe a minor upgrade on what we have got. Just not sure how many 3rd talls we can have on the list. I just don't see it as a priority, so I do hope we have more irons in the fire for our real needs. Gut feel for me is that perhaps he's being shopped around by Hawthorn and if no interest, then will be delisted.
I wouldn't want to give away anything for him. In fact, I'd rather we upgrade Jake Kelly than have Cheney maybe take his spot on the list. Surely he has a lot more upside?

Are you serious? Keegan Brooksby was nothing short of magnificent this year.. Dominated in the air and especially on the ground. Was an absolute hack 2 years ago. The most improved player I have seen.. Monster upside.. I bet Port pick him up and he plays against South in a Magpie jumper

Don't think that will be happening. Crows currently looking to trade pick 10 for 14 & 21 (Geelong).
I'd really like this. Be interesting if it's Geelong looking to trade up, or us trade down.

Might mean we are looking at Goddard or Marchbank as KPD rather than Durdin.

14: Goddard
21: Menadue

I'd be stoked. KPD and a speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed.
