Shiel would command more than 14 and 50 unfortunately, very good player that a lot of clubs would want. That being said, 100% the sort of player we need.

What then happens if by mid-season, then club is not a lot better than we are now? There aren't any guarantees that a new coach will suddenly make this side play better. Then a Geelong come in with an offer of $1.3-1.5m per season for a few seasons and he walks out the door.

The club are all in at this point and are banking on onfield success plus peer pressure to keep him at the club.

If that's true and Danger wants success then there's no way he'd agree to the trade to Melbourne, so even if had already made up his mind to leave then he has nothing to gain by accepting a trade to to Melbourne and lose his FA leverage.

The only way for the Crows to win this is to re-sign him, there's no trades on the table that the Crows can take to win this since teams like Geelong know they can buy him for free next. Melbourne can keep offering 2,3 and 12 all they want, but all we'd do by asking Danger to consider it is guarantee he won't be around past 2015.

Has a coach ever said anything so damning before? Not only does it suggest the match day selections were wrong, it also categorically admits a lack of game-day strategy and flexibility.
