Im considering these bets but will probably wait to closer to the season starts to put them on (ie. after nab cup). Has anyone else done any futures betting yet this year, or considering doing bets on the premiers/rising star/brownlow/coleman.... Feel free to post your thoughts/tips here. Here are mine:

Adelaide - Premiers - $9.00
Carlton - MISS 8 - $2.00
Sydney - MAKE 8 - $3.00
West Coast - MAKE 8 - $3.50
Bernie Vince - Brownlow - $51/$17.50

adelaide for minor prem is 13.00 and considering adelaides performance in finals, thats a better bet tbh

Each year I like to have a couple of spec bets on the Brownlow, and this year I will be taking Cooney and Pendlebury, not sure of the odds atm.

I also think Freo at 4.00 or more to make the 8 are pretty decent odds. don't know what it is but I just think Freo are going to do something this year.

i will lay your WCE bet

and the fevola loss is over-rated - carlton will be better off with 3-4 targets than one - especially one with no recovery skills at all

Sydney is reasonable value as their spirit will get them over the line in crunch games - just not sure how much depth they have now

Dogs at 6.5 for the flag is the one i will be one - almost most certain to be top 4 so will be very close to playing off again

FWIW i reckon Adelaide (whilst being a chance) are under the odds @ 8/1. They haven't performed well in finals & of the top 4 teams only beat coll in 1st game (lost twice to coll as well), got belted by WBD & StK (twice) belted by geel at home....

Vince is a very good player, i reckon shop around a bit more & try to get about 70-80/1 then i think its decent value.

I actually agree WCE will improve a lot this year, the only thing is how bad they have been away from home.

I rate the Bulldogs as the best value @ $6.50 but some will take that as being biased, Stk are the team i rate as favourites but they are not really over the odds.

I think there will be money to be made on North Melbourne who will win several games when not given a chance & cover the points at times as well & money to be made betting against port who i think may cop some fearful hidings this year--especially away from home.

what agency is offering this as an option? west coast will get home there comfortably! I actually think they are a genuine chance to make the 8, they'll be there in that pack of 4-6 sides fighting it out for the last couple of spots.

they are 3.50 to make the 8 and that could be quite tight come the last weeks of August. I believe though that Freo will not be one of those sides battling for 7-8th spot on the ladder, and hence think that the 1.80 bet is more appealing

btw this appeared on the website after i started this thread, and thats why i had West Coast MAKE 8 as a tip previously...

Yeah, after plenty of emails shot out to all the agencies this week, a bookie got in touch with me today and we spoke over the phone, after which he put it on for me.

Spewing that I didn't leave it until today - Martin went out a dollar with Naitanui's performance. That $1 equates to a few grand if it comes up!

Still, paid for itself with a cheeky ESS/ESS/WCE/WCE ($17) to generate some interest in last night's match for me - although got a bit hairy there with the Eagles goal on half time being retracted.

Yup I was on the cats/cats ht/ft heartbreaker as well

Edit: And on the Hawks to win at 1/4 time in the 2008 GF.
Hawks ended up ahead in each of the other quarters, and from memory were about 20 points up with 5 minutes left in the first quarter.
