Opinion AFL 2023 Round 8 - Liked, learnt, hated

Liked: Collingwood finishing round 8 a game clear on top of the ladder.

Learnt: That Fly starts Nick at half back so he's near Maynard.

Hated: Nothing. All is love when the Pies are a game clear on top of the ladder.

Liked: Closer margins this week
Learnt: As others have bemoaned, the game is going through a horrible revolution. By season’s end more than 20 players will have been suspended for committing the once accepted football action of tackling
Hated: that Collingwood FC felt the need to apologise for unknown supporters booing.

Hated: Tom Stewart not getting reported for his dump tackle considering Brad Close was for an identical one. Not one whisper from AFL media, no Whateley campaigning for his head, nothing.

Liked: (most of) the (sane) footy community condemning the booing of Buddy Franklin.
Learned: There's a team worse than West Coast.
Hated: Umps still miss howlers (Schultz). And, that Saints/North game. Turned it off partway through the 2nd quarter and had a nap. The nap was more interesting.

Liked: Attacking football is beating boring kick-to-kick and backline-flooding football.
Learned: Gerard Whately seems to think he is the moral saviour of sport. But most likely can't catch a ball.
Hated: Scheduling of games. Another late Sunday afternoon game for the Pies.
