Even with the massive umpiring advantage, Melbourne still getting slaughtered. Bring back Goodwin

Your complaining about free kicks when the AFL gave you an extra three day break than Melbourne?

What a ****ing joke.
Our best player so far Stephen May had a nice 3 week break coming into this game

Not far off the end at this rate
I mean given his age ok, but surely not. The whole team (Melbourne) looks like they’re standing a metre off at the moment. Hard to say if it’s tactics, issues with the coaching change or Hawthorn making them look like that. Mays been bad, but he’s not the only one, and Gunston in fairness is a sneaky devil.

I notice you completely ignored the point I made. Hawthorn given an extra 3 day break by the corrupt losers at AFL house. Congrats on being their love child and earning nothing yourselves. And enjoy losing in first week of the finals.

I think Hawthorn are just a very good side and Melbourne have a lot of gaps. It’s coaching. I don’t expect much with Chaplin given he has sat under Goodwin for many years. Big percentage boost for Hawthorn if they see out 4 quarters.

In fairness to Chaplin, he’s had the team for 2 weeks as big kahuna. Even if he was Barassi reborn that’s not enough time. He’s attempted to do some minor adjustments to the plan, as is his right, but it seems like the team doesn’t quite know what to do.

It’s always a shame when a coach gets the axe mid season, as realistically the next bloke has no chance.

I’d not expect the players to be able to respond to a new style if there is one in that time. It’s tough on Chaplin, agree, and yes the players are all at sea to be fair.

If you are a good team (or Essendon and Carlton) you regularly play on Thursday or Friday night which will often see you get a shorter break than your opponent. We copped this regularly a couple of years ago when we were near the bottom

Hoping the Dees are more competitive in the second half. Pretty poor so far. Hawks wasteful too.
It reminds of the early game between us last season except the colours reversed. Melbourne playing terrible boring footy by going backwards as often as they go forward like we did that day

Still a chance to get up to Hotham tonight for a ski tomorrow. Apparently the Powder has been epic.
