Thirty years later: In 2012, the Gold Coast was handed an AFL license to compete as the second Queensland team. Following the decline of rugby league, the market was there and so was born the Gold Coast Dolphins. Using their coastal location as their identity, the current jumper uses a sunburst element representing both the sun and the waves of the ol' Coolangatta.

Thirty years later: In 2024, the Hawks went back to the future with an 80's inspired hawk motif as a yoke/chevron feature on the front of the guernsey, which turned to be successful for the club, winning a premiership that same year and subsequently the design remained as a symbol of success for the club. The rear features the classic Hawthorn monogram above the player name.

Thirty years later: The Hobart Devils were the final expansion team of 2022, providing much needed representation of the island state. Originally wearing a garish forest green and maroon guernsey, the club steered from it's state colours this season, replacing the green with black and taking with the "Devils" branding in a different direction.

Taking advantage of Melbourne's non-existence I see

That trident looks familiar ;)

Where are the rest??

It's been a struggle to get back into these tbh - I got burned out quite fast really given I was only doing these as a continuation of my AFL 99 portfolio (check it out if you haven't yet).

I honestly can't see this continuing on at this point, as if I were to restart this, there are many things I'd want to change.

Understand your pain, being a graphic designer myself. The burnout is real when you do it for a full time job. I'd love to get the enthusiasm to try and put some ideas across but meh...Im lazy

To be fair, I work as an AV programmer full-time but a lot of my job involves graphic design for user interfaces etc.

The main burnout is from the fact my style has changed since starting this project and I think if I were to give it another crack I'd probably use my current template.

A little disappointed that you decided not to finish it, because the AFL '99 Concept was great, and I was really getting into this one, then BAM, it abruptly ended

Well, end of the day, I just really don't have the motivation with this one. I'm honestly more excited about retro concepts than future concepts.

Thirty years later: In the last couple of years, Footscray have made a move towards a sash on their guernseys as opposed to the classic hoops- whilst inverting the direction in comparison to Essendon and Richmond. The two-toned collar and cuffs combo has also made a return over the last few years to give more representation to the rest of their colours. The initials "EJW" appear above the player name as a tribute to E.J. Whitten- as the Bulldogs carry his spirit every time they go onto the park.

Love the idea of the Doggies in 2029, thumbs up Freight Train:thumbsu::thumbsu:
