And with little Jeffy kicking 3, that makes 8 for "two amigos" and still counting !!!

Adding to the galling factor that we struggled to kick more than 6 goals last Friday night. I am wondering whose decision it would have been to let Eddie go by not matching the Crows' offer? Was it Rodgers, Macca or Mick ?

While I am not always a fan of McClure, its difficult to disagree with his sentiments about the faulty strategy of letting all our main 3 goals kickers from the past 4 seasons go.

Of course there was, ... as a restricted free agent, all the club had to do was to match the Crows' offer and he was still our player.

Why would we want to keep someone who didn't want to play for us? He'd bought a house in SA at the start of last year.
Also, the club felt that Adelaide's offer was too much for a small forward.

If you think there was nothing we could've done your kidding yourself. It's hard to keep players when the coach doesn't want them.

I understand that reasoning ... but at the moment the harsh football reality is we don't have enough goal kickers to win games of football that we can afford just let a 50 goal a year small forward walk out the door. And yes I know he has had a bad run of injuries but the club was still able to find $700 plus a year to pay an injury prone player like Thomas. And to add insult to injury we received zero compensation for Waite going North.

Yeah I agree. I hated seeing Betts go but if his heart wasn't at Carlton then who knows if he would have performed to his full potential for us? In any case what's done is done, we need to work on getting games into our young forwards of the future.

True its done, but let's make sure it doesn't happen again to our next round of players who fall into the free agency age group. Once upon a time, Carlton would have been a place that any potential free agent would have flocked to ... now its a place that they want to escape from !!!
