Well its time again to tip who the b&f is gonna be from both grades.

Any tips??

Div. 3: Someone floated this one a while back: A.Quinn for ANU has been playing some great footy and is a sauce-head to-boot, so likely to have polled well.

Div 4. H.Russell for Goulburn has been tearing it up all year. Very surprised if he doesn't take it by a huge margin.

League B&F - Quinny being a chutney crutch is a big chance - gingas stand out (as we've seen in the last two years with Sipper)

Big Hill will poll well as he's always ever so nice to the umpires on his way to big bags of goals.

Has anyone at Belco or ADFA dominated?

I don't see anyone at the Blues winning - too many guys mouthing off doesn't help your vote collection!

My moneys on hilly to bag the double he has the goalkicking and will win the b/f for div 4 im tipping foran has been runner up 2 years ago and 5th last year umps love him and he is also a carrot top (not that you would no) good luck to all.

Young Dom from Belco would be a shot. He only weighs 20 kilo's wringing wet but jeez he can get the footy and has a real turn of speed on him.

But you could be right about the gingers. That filthy little midget Lavo got more votes than him last year and he can't kick over 20 metres.

Axe (10) won't win because he has a fair few disagreements with the men in white.

4th grade will be Foran or Serafin from Yass you'd think.

BTW - Good to see a CD thread up and running. I've been off OS for six weeks and it's been a good way to keep in the loop about what's happening round the traps. A LOT more action on this page than the professional one I notice ...

Griggs from Harman is a quality player in an average side - no offence intended i just think he will get most of his teams votes. He has also gone close in previous years to the big red man from the Jets. Sticking with the red head theme - it is now obvious why Brad Hardie has a Brownlow:)

Does anyone know dates, times, venues for this years B&F??

Hopefully it is seperate to the Div 1s and 2s - purely because it is too rushed if they try and squeeze it all into one night. Happy to have the Womens count on the same night as ours too. 1s 2s and 18s could be done sperately. Thoughts.....

We should have a separate vote count - I've been to the Mulrooney nights where the CD's results are glossed over. Highlight of that night was staggering out of the casino with a fellow poster here at about 4am...

Bring back the good old days of a CD's vote count, preferably at a sponsors club somewhere.

The Blues would be happy to host it at the Iro - it can't be hard to do and the beer is cheap and plentiful...

Luckliy I'm not easily offended. :D Cheers to all for keeping me up to date as to the goings on in the best comp in Canberra.

And of course - Go Jets:thumbsu:

Anyone know what the go is with div 4 semis this year, eg what venues and dates the first and second semis will be played?

Hey T O S,
as far as i know mate first final is played at ainslie oval on the 16th of august, 2nd semi is played at manuka oval on the 23rd of august and then the big one is played at ainslie oval on the 30th.

and to my knowledge also mate the division 3's are also the same:thumbsu:

Leeroys tips are as follows

div 3
ANU
ADFA
Eastlake
Belco
Jets

Div 4
Jets
Swannies
Mighty Yass Roos
Belco
ADFA

Good luck to all players and coaches this weekend.
lets hope for a good round of footy:D

Im hearing that the finals may well be played at jaminson oval as ainslie have not come to terms with actafl yet .I dont want to be negative but you have to wonder what goes on at the home of afl in act did someone just realise that the divs finals are nearly upon us .Why couldnt manuka have been booked at the start of the year. I no there is a bye after the home and away season in the DIV 1 and 2; this is also due to ground availability.Lets hope actafl and ainslie strike a deal maybe actafl could give them some of the fees we pay because we all know they are not used during the year!!!.

This is the second year in a row that a venue for CD's finals is still not locked in a week or two away from the finals. It really can't be that hard can it?

Manuka is the preference, but we would understand why it may not be available. Ainslie FC management have traditionally been a pack of w***ers so you would not expect anything from them that was remotely co-operative.

Greenway anyone? How about Stirling - its the best playing surface in the comp, just lacks a covered grandstand...

GF greenway has merit atleast no one gets a home ground advantage!!!

Lets just hope that its not jamieson oval who will host one of the finals as straight away belco have that advantage:mad: if that was the case then i dont see why we cant have home finals as such until the GF comes around.
i would like to see finals played with no advantage to any team. Greenway oval for sure is good:thumbsu:

Greenway is out due to other games (Rugby, premier division etc) for our finals. The options that AFL CBR are looking at are Manuka, Ainslie, Stirling and Queanbeyan's home ground. I have spoken to David Wark about the Jamison Oval regarding it's playing surface (Swamp) the other week which he mentioned that he will definately try to gain one of the above options.

Hey no-one is picking the Juggs over ANU this weekend. 3rd vs 6th and we still aren't favourites.

Tips
Juggs over ANU by 6 goals
Woden over Jets by 2 goals
ADFA over Harman by 5 goals
Upset - Ainslie over Eastlake by 2pts
Belco over Tuggers by 120pts

Ladder position doesn't always mean that much coming to the business end of the season.
Murrumbidgee are pretty much guaranteed a finals berth (Tuggeranong in the round 18...), but ANU have to win both remaining games to have a chance of making it.
So, you tell me who has more to play for...

We want second place mate so we have lots to play for. If we loose we pretty much give second place to Gungahlin.

As a first timer to this concept I am a little more than anxious in getting involved - particularly with the anonymous nature of the rest of the posters. I will do my best to contribute from time to time but do not intend on getting involved in any debate. I've never been keen on fighting in a room full of people with the lights turned off! I enter the fray now to raise the topic of a revamped Mulrooney Medal night and to get some quick feedback. I appreciate that last year we did not provide anywhere near enough attention to the District competition. I accept responsibility for this and have vowed to improve the situation.

To address that I am suggesting a very different format in 2008. My intention is to begin the MM count very early in the night - say to round 5. At this point we show the leaderboards of the top ten for the women's comp, div 4,3,2 and under 18s after 6 rounds. The seperate games votes will be distributed to the relevant tables so all that are interested can see who voted in each game. At the first break we would present leading goalkickers with their awards possibly. A similar format after round 10 and then once round 15's votes have been counted for the MM we reveal the winners of the other grades medal winners. So we have all votes being revealed, although not being read out, players recognised appropriately with a little suspense and having a build up of sorts for all grades' individual medals.

I cannot promise to taking all opinions expressed here as those of the clubs or that it will be a 'majority rules' from the reactions here but I did think it worth throwing the concept into this forum knowing the comments will be honest.

I am confirming the arrangements this afternoon with Ainslie for the first and second semi-finals to be played there, preliminary finals at Manuka and grand finals at Ainslie. All are subject to weather. Thought you might be interested.

You are welcome to respond to me personally via email (david.wark@aflact.com.au) or through bigfooty.

Thanks David for coming on Big footy to explain the new schedule for the MM night. Sounds like a good format. The only thing I would say is the early time that the event starts (5pm). Not all people will be able to knock off work early enough to get there for the start but if there is beer there then I'm there bright and early. :D

Regarding the finals venue for CD. The majority on this site does not want to see any finals played at Jamison due to the poor condition of the oval. If Ainslie doesn't come to the party then it would be good to review both Stirling and Queanbeyan ovals.
