Picking a KPD because he is the best available option at our selection is insane to me.

Am I wrong?
If purely KPD at our top pick agree. If KPD who "we believe will eventually be able to go into the midfield" also insane. If KPD who has shown genuine sustained form in other positions and has an element of freak then I am fine with that.

I think so. Reid is a low chance of making it IMO. I don’t think we’ll be overstocked by taking O’Sullivan.

If we think O'Sullivan, Reid or Hayes can become a top forward then I'd happily take O'Sullivan, I'm not sure that's the case for any of them, but I don't know enough in regards to Conor.

All I know is we keep neglecting our forward line by taking KPD at our 1st pick and 2nd picks.
Ok, which forward is available?

I’d take Caddy in a second if he was available. But I’m assuming he won’t be.

Trade back? We always think we need to take the player available at our pick even if he doesn't suit us, that's a horrendous way to build a list.

Now I'm not saying O'Sullivan or Murphy are the wrong guys to take, I don't know they could end up generational, I just think picking best available shouldn't be our default position anymore, it's been that for way too long.

I have massive reservations taking another KPD, I get the argument of ‘best available’ that comes up every year: but ffs Hayes, Reid, Cox, OSullivan after bringing in McKay on big $$ for 5 years… seems silly (not to mention Weideman and Baldwin). Especially after my eyeballs have just seen us get run totally ragged by Collingwood and GWS who prioritise talented hard running smalls all over the ground.

And before people say ‘Cox isn’t a KPP’ he may not be, but if we are going to develop the kid he needs a chance to fit his 200cm lanky bod in our backline somehow.

I want to see us bring in an aggressive, hard running mid or two that are at the top of the 2km time trial and help us turn the needle in regards to running out 4th quarters.

I’d prefer best available and trade up our second rounders to get Reid

I'd like to see a CHF that fits that profile.

That sounds good, I'm ok with that, still would lean hard outside runner with forward ability (Wilson?) over the KPD but Reid would be a good pick up.

Also I still hold out hope for Charlie Edwards.

I think our 3rd pick should be used on a ruck whether that pick is 35 or 61.

No point taking a forward if they are not up to it. It is one thing to take a KPD if there is a good KPF available. It is another to pick the best player available in an average draft .
Cox is a flanker. Reid is always injured. Hayes three years away .
O’Sullivan is not a lightweight stick either unlike Cox and Reid.
If Caddy is there I have no issues with him . Caddy and O’Sullivan could be gone and we have to go with an outside runner.
The draft just lacks the depth to allow us to be totally specific this year .

How do we effectively develop Baldwin, Cox, Reid, Hayes and O’Sullivan at the same time?

Seems a real ‘throw shit at the wall and see what sticks’ methodology

I don't hate the idea of O'Sullivan because he looks like such a good prospect and does have that versatility. If he's much better than the next best prospect, it's worth pulling the trigger. But if it's a marginal difference and they still go for the KPD because they're just slightly 'best available', it's terrible list management. Alternatively, if they think a KPD is the biggest need/best use of another first round pick, it's also terrible list management. I'll spew if they pick Murphy.
