I wish there was an AFL game in the same vein as rocket league physics. Sometimes i feel in rocket league I am jumping into packs and getting the hard ball out, moving it down the field then pushing back hard to defend.

I just can't stand that everyone plays man on man the WHOLE game! Is there any way around this haha ie. to play a zone?

Footy hasn't been played that way in god knows how long.
I reckon they fix this issue, and they are on to a real winner. They seem to have better implemented handballing and the contested stuff
If only they could make it less one on one style of play, allowing you to switch the play in back 50 and get players in space on a fast break etc..

Seems like that would be a difficult fix. They'd need to rewrite how the AI function.

Wouldn't be easy, but I'd be willing to give WW a couple more games to get it right. I think we have the foundations for a very good game in AFL Evolution, the problem is charging $79 or $99 for a foundation

Its clear that players are tethered to their direct opponent.
Something that could counter it is players just run and cover AN opponent in their area, take the leash off the direct opponent AND make player ratings more obvious.
Let the faster players be faster and gain separation from their opponents in space.

If a player is gaining space on his opponent and he runs past (or even just close to) another opponent they take up the chase and the previous chaser then goes to find another opponent. Much like zoning works in current day footy!

Might be difficult but could create more uncontested marks (but not too many) and a few more 2 on 1's.

You can see now, for instance, when a player points in the direction he wants to lead and takes off, his opponent is always the same distance behind him, that should not be the case unless their ratings are very much alike.

Im noticing on trophy sites that this game is called AFL 3 Evolution. Wonder if there were originally going to go with AFL Live 3 or what the go is there. (I believe these trophy sites pull the data directly from Sony's servers, so its named AFL 3 Evolution on Sony's end)

Same :)

Ground looks like PS1, look at that pixelation. It's terrible. Players look like ps2 with jaggies.

This is what it's called when you look at your trophies on PS4 too. Just another thing Wicked Witch messed up I suppose lmao.

I've been critical of WW since AFL2 came out, the absolute joke of a game that was led me to believe that this wouldn't be too great either, but WW have been fairly in touch with this forum and social media for a while now and I'd assume they would be aware of issues in the game and patch them accordingly. I don't think they will turn a blind eye to the game now that it's released.

Thought the game was selling for $79. Most games come with their issues.
Was $100 on Xbox store to download. I understand games have issues which I haven't posted on here yet waiting till I really get the hang of it before being to critical. I understand there budget restraints but if a game cant be saved or played surely not ready for release two pretty big deals if you ask me. But I'm glad to hear WW have in the past been in collaboration with its customers and tried to improve there games after release. I'm new so was unsure of the history. I look forward to hearing from theme

This make no sense on so many levels.

Check the market, games like this are not worth full $100 price.

"oh small aussie team of 15 made the game" then why the hell is the games priced like 200 hundred people worked on it.
Because they won't sell a million copies like the one that 200 hundred people worked on will. Do you really not understand this?

How many more games can we realistically give them though? They've been making AFL games for something like 8 years and we're only just now getting to what is considered a good base, the same point we were at 6 years ago. Every time we go, oh well, maybe they'll get it right next time. Admittedly, this time they got a lot more things right. But they also got things like the magnet pairs so wrong at the same time.

I have no doubt that they gave 100% at making this game. I can see a lot of work has gone into it. But I kind of think of it like being a brain surgeon. Some people could study for 20 years and still not make the cut. Which doesn't fault their endeavour or effort, they just lack the capacity to be able to be at the right level. It's pretty clear that like Big Ant did with DBC17, WW bit off way more than they could chew with AFL Evo (tons of modes and features/AFLW, yet so many simple things wrong like applying the right commentary names, AI goal kicking, and most of Be A Pro mode). It remains to be seen whether WW can chew what they've bitten off, will be very interesting to see where it sits after a patch or 2 (remembering AFL1 has the benefit of a couple patches too).

I love when you can pull this shit off sooooooo smooth

I can't be bothered starting it right now but may I suggest we make a "highlights" or "screenshots/videos" thread where we can post moments like this? They get a bit lost in this thread.

Yeah I never understand the logic. With such a small scope for sales they have to sell at the regular price if they want to make money. The cinema charges the same price whether it's a 150 minute $400M Marvel movie or a 75 minute $2M artsy fartsy film.

Is there anyway to play on from a kick in after behind and not get tackled immediately? Basically my only option seems to be a torp straight up the guts.
I use the fend or side step with the right stick. Works most times if you time it right, but not everytime which is a good thing. Risk/reward.

But you don't have to go watch the movie, just like you don't have to buy the game. They can charge whatever the hell they want, in the end it's your choice.

I forget to use the right stick 100% of the time.

It's one of the best feelings in the game when you pull it off. I often forget too, or become too flustered in the heat of the action to remember how to do it nek minnit HTB or I've handpassed it straight to the opposition.

Maybe I should be less critical when players do that in real life?

Nah.

I'm liking it so far good challenge getting over 20 marks a game sometimes kick to space and use that right stick in contested situations works a treat.

Agreed.

Ive created teams with glaring speed difference between players and this comes through in contests, but around the ground. Im going to try with all players tagging at 0, but I doubt that will have an effect.

The game plays a lot better with slower players but we need to see some modern tactics and positioning.
