Getting the camera right is actually the hardest part of making the game.

I struggle watching on TV, the coverage is too "cameo" and tight for my liking, so much is happening off the ball you lose at least 50% of the action in my opinion.

So while there is a "broadcast like" camera, the default will be further back. I personally play it with the same view as if you were in the Southern stand, second level, front row. Playing it any closer doesn't allow you to see what's on offer far enough down the field.

In any case, you will have many camera options. I know it will be a very personal thing as to which one you like most.
This is what I was most concerned about.

The problem with previous games is that you have a very limited range of what is in front of you, making it almost impossible to pick out passes.

This makes it impossible to replicate a modern AFL game; it forces to player to just boot it long and hope for the best.

Hopefully this new camera view can deal with these issues.

I'm guessing you haven't answered the whether there's a career mode or not for a reason. so i won't ask that question again.

There are some questions that remain unanswered because we have to save some surprises for the press releases, etc... down the track.

PS: Hope you weren't there today.... I am really getting an aversion to going to Etihad...

Yeah i figured it was probably that.

Yeah... Luckily i had work today so i wasn't able to go... Got to see the first half on TV before going to work. and apparently the second half was better. maybe i'm bad luck. lol

Really appreciate all the info you've released Big Ant just a quick question in relation to the speed of the game and the AI. The biggest problems with the other games was it was a real mark and kick game from the AI. So what i was wondering is how do the AI go about moving the footy, do they try and take you on with run and carry? Cheers mate

Also a question; will there be a hands or push in the back rule? Because in AFL 07 you could just bump someone down and take the mark

thanks in advance

Can you give us any idea on how clearance work is done,
in the other game, it was pretty simple/clear cut, ruckman tap it down the midfielder and he kicks. Obviously in real life, that is a rarity, most kicks are rushed/ ruckrover gets tackled etc.
Any insight would be appreiciated, if you can't release such information i understand completly

Sounds good. Definitely know what you mean per TV coverage than on the ground, it's amazing how different the same game can look. Dunno if you can say or not, but will there be the 3rd person like camera of the previous AFL games too?

Also hope that the radar can be of good use too. I absolutely love the radar in sports games, even when I can see what's going on downfield and everything I always like to know what's going on at every point of the field. Also helps in snap decisions for a play that might not be visible on screen. Will there be an option to have the radar in 2D or 3D like FIFA has?
It's generally about licensing and price protection. A good example is in India where game sell very cheaply as the market cannot bear a high price, Indian copies imported would kill some games. (I know someone who imported an Indian copy of Command and Conquer for $20 landed.)

The advantage we have on 360 and PS3 is that we can package the game for download in other regions where a retail/disk version doesn't make sense. I am in talks with the publishers about this.
Ah ok. But don't publishers and distributors make deals to make sure there's no loss in selling to those nations? Or is it just that the games HAVE to make less overseas than in those which sell titles for a higher RRP?

Games generally sell for what the market will bear, and it is the profit globally that makes a game work or not (P&L wise). Importing across territories screws the global budget. We don't have this issue with AFL as it's really only local product - I was just answering the question in general.

There is a radar.

There isn't third person. We tried it but it's unplayable, it's just not good.

Can't wait for this game. Thanks for all the info BigAnt. :thumbsu:

Ive seen the Dane Swan screenshot, but are there any other screenshots out there?

Does the game use the right analog stick? I think it would be awesome to shoot in a similar way to most NBA games where you pull down the stick and let go as the player is about to kick the ball to shoot, and to snap you'd pull the stick at different angles? Have you thought about implementing something similar to this?

Cheers

So will there be any changes to drafting/ trade week?

Also will any DLC become avalible?

And what price range will it cost?

Please answer, thanks

Can we card people who re-ask questions

you expect everyone to read a fifty page thread before asking any questions? (and as this is part 2 i gather there is another part as well)

As long as people who know the answer help out by answering them rather than the developer having to go over old ground i can't see the problem with the odd question being repeated.

Some people have lives and can't spend 2 hours reading a thread to ask a question.
